Almost too good to be a game--but as games go, it's one of the pest.--Entertainment Weekly

Bad Mojo Redux, a revamped edition of the classic 1996 horror adventure that will let you experience the world through the eyes of a cockroach, is available in a bonus content-filled package on GOG.com, for only $5.99!

There's over 4,500 species of cockroaches roaming every possible corner of our planet. 40 of them, are the species closely related to human habitats. They live in the cracks of our civilization, feeding on our waste, shunning our light. We try to keep our worlds as separate as possible, revolted by their shining chitin bodies, dietary habits, and the tendency to show up unexpected and uninvited. We do our best to keep them out of our sight and mind, but the truth is, we're only fooling ourselves. They are there, they have always been, and they will be long after we're gone. Now, wouldn't it be fascinating to catch a glimpse of these creatures' perspective of reality?

Bad Mojo Redux lets you do just that! It tells a Kafka-like story of a man turned into a cockroach by a strange and mystical twist of events. Surprisingly the event leaves the protagonist feeling empowered, free, and in control for the first time in his life, as he sets off to experience the world full of paths no human ever trailed before. The game, combining exploration, puzzles, and a psychedelic plot, has been refurbished for modern systems so you can discover all of the 800+ screens re-creating our world's disturbingly icky underbelly. The game comes complete with a ton of bonus video content (including a "making of" documentary and developer commentaries) and artworks.

Overcome your revulsion, leave behind your prejudice towards insects, and discover a whole new perspective with Bad Mojo Redux, yet another Night Dive classic release, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.
What an interesting release. I was actually considering getting Bad Mojo Redux, but here we are, we got a GOG release. Still didn't get it right now.

This game definitely has quite a making of. Legend says that the developers tried to scan spiders but the spiders turned into dust. Not to mention, the infamous rat incident. Hard to believe this game didn't get as controversial as say, Doom, Postal, or Grand Theft Auto.

Also, another thanks to GOG for letting everyone buy the game digitally and equally... because those who live in the UK now can play the game with the redux bonuses!

CrowTRobo: I remember this when the original came out. I couldn't play it then due to the subject matter and nothing has changed since. I hate insects and cockroaches creep me out more than any other. The developers can take this as a compliment - they succeeded in repulsing someone who is repulsed by the real thing.

tinyE: Do arachnids count as insects to you?
Yes! They aren't as bad as cockroaches, but aren't too far behind. I would say my order of hatred/disgust:

1. Cockroach
2. Fly
3. Mosquito
4. Spider
Thanks for adding this true classic to the catalogue.
Is there any chance to add the original game from 1996 as well?
Maybe as bonus content?

@phaolo
The original game runs in 256 color mode. The Redux version runs in truecolor mode (32bit).

No, not really as it would be impossible to run it without a VM. Sorry :/

I see. That`s sad then. I wishlisted it anyway. Thanks for the answer.
Great game! Another one from my wishlist. Thanks GOG!

mistermumbles: I very rarely even bother considering bundles anymore. Is it good value for the customer? It undoubtedly is, but then I'd end up getting stuck with a lot of games I'm not terribly interested in, too. The funny thing is that, more often than not, I typically already own the games of real interest that may pop up in bundles, making said bundles not at all desirable to me. Heh.

IAmSinistar: Likewise. And worse, once I've got those bundles I hardly take note of them again. I picked up A Valley Without Wind in one of them god-knows-when, and it wasn't until someone here on GOG suggested I check it out that I actually played it. I quite like it, yet it probably would have languished with all the other "games for a quarter" otherwise. When I get a game on GOG it sticks with me, thanks to how carefully GOG selects and presents them. That ends up being better value for me in the long run.
My aproach to buying games is
sometimes i buy on sale and sometime for the full price.
I simply cant afford to buy all games for full price since that woud have lead me to buying less games.
Sometimes i pass on sales as well and buy the game at full price to support the devs.
Example i bougth 5 or 6 games during the insomnia sale but woud probably only bougth 3 for full price due to financial constraints this month.

Not sure if this game is for me, i dont really deal well with horror games though i bougth Alan wake to give horror games a new try later down the road.
Got scared sensless just of the damn dogs that broke the window in RE1, havent played it since cuz i was imagining shadows here and there a good while after that.
Only had a demo of this, always wanted to play the full version.
Instant addition to wishlist, this is exactly the kinda release I enjoy seeing on GOG.
Gameboomers has an A++ review on Bad Mojo Redux. I'm off to buy it despite my revulsion for crawlies. Well, most of them. I kind of like wooly bears.

Potzato: It's here ! Yay, people will stop complaining about the lack of old releases for 24 hours at least (I hope) :D
Why are there no old releases today?

You must not have encountered house centipedes. Yet.

I swear those dogs are our generation's "the shower scene from Psycho". Just as the shower scene traumatised our parents' generation, we all seem to have a shared horror of the window scene with that freaking dog.
Oh snap, Bad Mojo? Gotta say, I've been waiting to play this one for a long, long time...

Stuff's out of the golden age of weird FMV games. Thanks, GOG!
This game makes me really hope we'll see Night Trap be released on GOG.com in the future (along with more and more FMV games) - if it ever comes here, I hope we'll see it come with a download of the main Night Trap theme :)
So I just purchased this and had a bit of a play, and holy shit it's odd, they don't make games this weird anymore
Thank you GOG! I've wanted to play this properly for 15 years. I first saw this on Home of the Underdogs (15 years ago) but their approach to releases like this due to the at-the-time huge filesize of 100Mb+ was to strip out all the FMV sequences, but unfortunately that made Bad Mojo impossible to follow.

Have a not-quite-dead-actually-rat in thanks!
