Part survival horror, part detective novel, part action, and part adventure--a must-have for fans of exciting thrillers and sublime story-telling.

Alan Wake, the psychological action thriller, is available now on GOG.com--and it’s on sale for 50% off for a week! That’s only $14.99 for the game and both DLCs until Tuesday, May 15th at 21.59 GMT.

From Remedy, developers of classic Death Rally and Max Payne 1 & 2, comes a third-person shooter described by its creators as combination of "the mind of a psychological thriller,” and "the body of a cinematic action game.” The player controls Alan Wake, author of popular detective fiction, who needs to find his wife in a perfect and fictional--yet nightmarish and dreadfully real--town of Bright Falls. The story is told in episodes in style similar to a mystery TV series, with each episode having its own plot but revealing new piece of the main puzzle as well. The story is filled with endless twists and cliffhangers, there are recap sequences at the beginning of a new episode, closing credits, and a lot of cinematic sequences--all of these combine to create a fantastic “film noir” atmosphere, unique to the world of PC horror games. Fans of The Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks, and Stephen King will find numerous references and inspirations while solving the mystery behind supernatural horrors that infest Bright Falls.

Mr. Wake will walk the streets, find clues, and talk to people during the day; he will fight various enemies during the night. Light is the main weapon in Alan’s fight against the town’s inhabitants who have been possessed by a darkness that transforms them into axe wielding murderers. Enemies are initially impervious to attack, and can only be harmed when exposed to light, coming from your flashlight, flare guns, flares, and environmental sources. Even if you’re not afraid of the dark, the game will keep you on your toes, and once the darkness creeps in you will not want to leave your safely lit havens.

Gripping suspense, intense action, great thriller storytelling, flawless design--yes, Alan Wake is a perfect game. Time magazine named it the best video game of the year, IGN awarded Alan Wake “Best Horror Game”, it has also received numerous nominations for “Best Narrative”, “Best Writing/Story”, and “Best Character” (for Alan Wake).

Grab Alan Wake for the next seven days for only $14.99--and get with the manual, wallpaper, and a number of videos and extra goodies (stay tuned for more extras soon) all for one great price! Expect other great games from Remedy coming in the very near future!
Near had a heart attack when I saw the price! A new game going for £10 with all the DLC and extras! Nice work GOG!
Doesn't GOG stand for Good old games? This is not old ;)
Damn I bought it on steam for 50 dollars!
I thought I was never gonna play this game because of DRM. Obviously I was wrong. It's downloading right now.

Next stop: Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim. ;-)

SirPrimalform: I'm fine with $30, the PC port only came out this year remember. There's no way they'd persuade anyone to sell it at $10, which would mean they'd have to exclude it.

cheesetruncheon: This is what i'm scared of though

'sorry 9.99 doesn't cut it anymore here 14.99'

Ok I have no problems with this!

'sorry 14.99 doesn't cut it any more here have 19.99'

Ok I have no Problems with this!

'sorry about 19.99, here's 29.99'

Ok I have no Problems with this

sorry here's 49.99

oh man how'd this happen?
Well, if you think a game is too expensive, don't buy it.

I didn't buy The Witcher 2 yet, because 40 something bucks for a download is a little rich for my blood, and I probably wouldn't have paid 30 bucks for Alan Wake, but 15 bucks is okay in my book. Therefore I bought it.
Sheesh, yeah Steam has it on sale for -50% too now.

Still not a game I'm interested in for $10+, I can wait ^^
I have little interest in this game. It was announced as an exclusive for the Red Ring of Death machine, then things got worse when it was later ported to the PC as a ShitWorks title, and, on top of those massive issues, I hate Steven King... I feel the man is an overrated hack, and from what I've read the game pays frequent homage to the his writings. I can think of plenty of other, more likely titles I would have much rather seen today...

I insta-bought it anyway. What you've done here, wrestling a less than three month old, (PC release), game away from the anti-consumer trash that is Steam, it just needs to be supported. It gives me hope that we'll see Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Fallout: New Vegas, Metro 2033, Serious Sam 3: BFE, ect... here at some point, maybe even in the not so distant future.

Keep up the excellent work fellas.

Alan Wake was released on steam for 22€ (30$?)
I doubt it was for 50$. Maybe only if you bought the retail Collector's Edition :).

And if you watch latest CD Projekt Red + GOG conference there was said that we should no longer think about GOG as "GoodOldGames" , it's just GOG now. With great database of classics and new games as well.

yeah, the Collector's Edition is tempting now. €16 are fair, IMO, very fair.

still, since the game has now gone 50% off, it'll go 75% off next time, probably during the Summer Sale.

decisions, decisions.
Kudos to GOG's spoiler alert department, that was a close call ;)
Well, Alan Wake is just not my cup of tea, so I'll pass, even while the lower price lasts. Good to see it appeals to so many gamers, though.
@GOG
Now that you've wandered to even higher price points, can we please get Port Royale 3 for $40 in the near future? It'd be an insta-buy for me.
Wow, thank you GOG. I have no more words. Just instant buy!
Steam just put this game on sale. Wonder if it's a result of this release.
I heard the soundtrack for this game was great. I looked at the bonus materials and it's not there.

Is this a mistake or will GOG not be offering it?

Hopefully the bolded part means they will be offering it, or maybe they will through the expansion in as well. As usual though, only GOG knows.

And a GOG.com tweet:
"We're working on some more goodies for Alan Wake. Stay tuned!"
