Part survival horror, part detective novel, part action, and part adventure--a must-have for fans of exciting thrillers and sublime story-telling.

Alan Wake, the psychological action thriller, is available now on GOG.com--and it’s on sale for 50% off for a week! That’s only $14.99 for the game and both DLCs until Tuesday, May 15th at 21.59 GMT.

From Remedy, developers of classic Death Rally and Max Payne 1 & 2, comes a third-person shooter described by its creators as combination of "the mind of a psychological thriller,” and "the body of a cinematic action game.” The player controls Alan Wake, author of popular detective fiction, who needs to find his wife in a perfect and fictional--yet nightmarish and dreadfully real--town of Bright Falls. The story is told in episodes in style similar to a mystery TV series, with each episode having its own plot but revealing new piece of the main puzzle as well. The story is filled with endless twists and cliffhangers, there are recap sequences at the beginning of a new episode, closing credits, and a lot of cinematic sequences--all of these combine to create a fantastic “film noir” atmosphere, unique to the world of PC horror games. Fans of The Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks, and Stephen King will find numerous references and inspirations while solving the mystery behind supernatural horrors that infest Bright Falls.

Mr. Wake will walk the streets, find clues, and talk to people during the day; he will fight various enemies during the night. Light is the main weapon in Alan’s fight against the town’s inhabitants who have been possessed by a darkness that transforms them into axe wielding murderers. Enemies are initially impervious to attack, and can only be harmed when exposed to light, coming from your flashlight, flare guns, flares, and environmental sources. Even if you’re not afraid of the dark, the game will keep you on your toes, and once the darkness creeps in you will not want to leave your safely lit havens.

Gripping suspense, intense action, great thriller storytelling, flawless design--yes, Alan Wake is a perfect game. Time magazine named it the best video game of the year, IGN awarded Alan Wake “Best Horror Game”, it has also received numerous nominations for “Best Narrative”, “Best Writing/Story”, and “Best Character” (for Alan Wake).

Grab Alan Wake for the next seven days for only $14.99--and get with the manual, wallpaper, and a number of videos and extra goodies (stay tuned for more extras soon) all for one great price! Expect other great games from Remedy coming in the very near future!
What the…

You guys never cease to surprise me! I was already surprised and excited to find Thief III and Anomaly at GOG lately. And now Alan Wake, completely DRM free. This’ simply awesome and I can't wake to get back home tonight!
"Should be cheaper"
"On Steam sales are better"
"Can't afford it"
"My PC is too old"
yaddah yaddah

Whiners.

Don't like it, then don't buy it. That's enough. GOG will get the message, they have the sale statistics, they aren't idiots ...
Like it better somewhere else? Then what are you still doing here?
Your PC too slow? Price is too high? Sorry, no one said that PC Gaming is cheap. And besides, GOG realeases something for free from time to time. Just be patient and let others have their fun. There are people (like me) who've been waiting for this moment for quite a while, and you still can think only about yourself... Chill out, there's no reason for moaning.
Wow. I was quite interested in this game when I heard it was being released for PC. But alas, it was a Steamworks title, so it went on my "Buy when it hits $5" list. But now it's here DRM free for only $15?

Sold.
SUPER-ULTRA-GREAT release.
Tranks guys, you're the best!

gyokzoli: I'm really surprised about this release.

But I have mixed feelings about this game. The story is great but the gameplay is awful.

spinefarm: The story and the gameplay was great on xbox... I still didn't test in on pc
The problem was not with the controls. The problem is the repetitive gameplay.. you spend 80% of the game time by fighting he shadows and all fight is exactly the same. You cannot plan anything, you cannot hide, you cannot flee, you cannot pick how you'll fight since they always find you, they always know where you are. The whole combat system sucks hard.
Great release GOG, gonna buy after tomorrow when I receive. =)
Very happy to see this here for $15. It seems very worth that price to me!
Simply MUST HAVE. GOG and Remedy did a great job.

FEW ADVICES to those who didn't play it:
After you complete the game don't forget to play The Signal and The Writer episodes which continues after the main story. And if you want to find out more about the story, play the game on nightmare difficulty and make sure to read the Alan Wake Files book (which was originally only as a part of Collector's Edition).

Oh yes it is not perfect in that matter... but the game was quite fun on the Xbox... It definetly deserves the 15$
I would buy it. Except that:

1) Have too many games.
2) No hd space (I have 4 hds all full or almost full).

And I know that if a game gets uninstalled for some reason, chances are it won't be played again till judgement day. As long it's intalled, there's a chance (a small chance) I might click on it (even by accident).
great game and greater price! nice release gog.com!
WHAAAAAAT? I just sent them a mail telling them that I would not buy the game with DRM. This is, this is like a fucking dream!! Just for that I'm waiting a week to buy it full price

Go Remedy, go!! And thanks a ton gog!!

The main plus with this version is you get the "files" book as an extra, it originally came with the CE on 360. I would suggest you dont read it until you complete the game.

I always felt the vanilla game was a bit lacklustre but the book is a great addition to the experience, I think it was made to be like that, as its about an author, the CE came in the form of a hardback book package containing the game and a hardback files book.

I cant imagine playing it with a KB/M though, maybe I'm too consolised lol :)

kavazovangel: Because those that already wanted the game for that price, they got it.

Spare me the "but this one is DRM-free" crap.

theadam: Wow, what an a-hole! I was really looking forward to this game and haven't realised it was available anywhere else at such a small price. I was very suprised both by the release on GOG and by the price. I have instantly bought this. And I got it DRM free, mwahahahahaha!
Yea, I love you too. Nice of you to share the love.
If only the gameplay lean toward the classic Silent Hill series.. The game is good, i like to watch people play it but i'm not really interested play it by myself. I'm just feeling jaded of shooter game.
