Moonbeam: Any chance of Gothic 3 soundtrack?
avatar
Fesin: Sadly no. I asked the CEO of Piranha Bytes about this, and he said that they don't have the rights for digital distribution - getting them now would be too expensive and a lot of work, because so many people were involved (the orchestra for example - and even a commune).
Thank you Fesin,

Crosmando: Look at all the plebs in this thread calling people "audiophiles" for liking FLAC, anyone who isn't a half-deaf old koot can tell the difference
I have yet to meet the person who claims that the difference is so clearly audible and doesn't fail when his amazing hearing is put to a test in a blind experiment. :P
One they may have missed on the list, or it was already there, System Shock 2 seems to have a FLAC option as well. :)

That was there upon release :)
This is the best thing ever :))
Love to gog +++
Just wondering why you keep posting FLAC versions of some soundtracks when they in fact aren't any better than the already existing MP3 versions? Take the two latest for instance. Jack Orlando and Two Worlds. The FLAC version is the exact same as the MP3 version and not lossless at all so offering them as FLAC is totally unnecessary. Anyone can download the MP3s and convert them to FLACs themselves if they want. But it beats me why anyone would want that...
Who cares about FLAC? MP3 is good enough for me! :P
Is there a list of gog games with FLAC soundtracks? I'm assuming since the initial announcement there have been more added? At least Dragonsphere tries reminding me of it twice a day.

If it is correct, then it means GOG folks don't know what they are doing.

But if we talk about FLAC soundtracks, I prefer lossless soundtracks.

Some of us do care about truly lossless. ;-)

Do you have any other examples? I find it hard to believe the GOG staff wouldn't have some understanding of this.

Yeah, I can't tell the difference at all. I'm sure some can, though.

Just compared a few of the Two Worlds audio files myself now; unfortunately you're correct, spectrals show that they cut off at the same point, typically just below 19000Hz. Assuming that GOG didn't knowingly do a lossy-to-"lossless" conversion (I really hope not)... the only explanation I can think of is that the master source files used were already lossy without the person converting it realizing that fact. :/

Had to go through all of the games i have... took a while but... there were more that weren't lossless:

Desperados
EDNA & HARVEY: THE BREAKOUT
Ether One
Heroes of Might and Magic IV
Jade Empire
KRUSH KILL 'N DESTROY XTREME
Stalker - Clear Sky
Stalker - Call of Pripyat
That probably means chean is right and they just didn't realize the master source files were already lossy?
