My goal has been to make Driftmoon a game that'll leave you smiling.--Anne Mönkkönen, co-creator.

Driftmoon, a charming and detailed indie role-playing adventure, complete with a robust scenario editor giving it great modding capability , is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $7.49 for the next 24 hours!

Here's a thing about indie developers. They're not interested in taking over your living room, delivering all-in-one multimedia experiences to you, or getting you excited about cable TV shows. No, they're in the business of making games. Games that sometimes tell fascinating stories, deliver satisfying challenge, and are fun to play. That's about it, and there's no real need for anything more. Ville Mönkkönen has been making and releasing interesting PC games for well over a decade now. Driftmoon, made in collaboration with his wife Anne, is his most elaborate work up to date, and with its amazing fairytale-like story, solid gameplay, and remarkable atmosphere, it's safe to call it his masterpiece. It has everything that makes people love PC role-playing and adventure games, so if you missed it launch, make sure to give it a go today.

Driftmoon is a story-driven RPG with lots of colorful characters, original ideas, beautiful gameworld, and involving writing. It's quite impressive how every aspect of the game was lovingly developed and polished. You can see great involvement of the developers affecting every little detail of the fantastic experience you are being presented here. Indeed, this game is going to leave you smiling! It will also allow you to get creative with its elaborate scenario editor, so you can expect additional adventures to spawn across the games community.

If you miss that sense of wonder you got as a kid playing games, if you're looking for a colorful and unique world to explore, if you like to be told amazing fairytales, get Driftmoon for only $7.49 on GOG.com! The offer lasts until Thursday, May 23, at 9:59AM GMT.

Andanzas: This game looks charming and I almost bought it when it was first released. And now... I guess I am going to almost buy it again. Sorry, Driftmoon. One day we shall have fun together, but now is not really a good time for me.

tinyE: There is a nice demo out there if you are dying of curiosity. Warning, the demo got me to buy the game so if you are hurting for coin I wouldn't check it out.
Thanks for letting me know. I might check it out it next time. Or not. I have the impression that I will really enjoy this game, so I'll probably just go ahead and buy it next time I see it on sale. It looks like a labour of love. How do you like it so far?

It's cute and fun. XD I'm used to Fallout and NWN with zombies and hookers and monsters and Driftwood is a lot lighter, though it does look surprisingly good given it's tiny specs. A lot of reading (typical RPG) and another thing that sticks out is you can pick up virtually EVERYTHING which at first is fun until you realize you don't need 90% of it and here you are with an inventory full of useless crap. :D

BTW, if watching gameplay videos of the game doesn't do it for you and you're still interested in the game, you might as well download and play the demo. I normally am too lazy to play demos so I always go the Youtube route of watching other people walk me through the game but others are more hands on.

Here is the link for the demo if you are interested in it for the next time it shows up. http://www.instantkingdom.com/download/driftmoon.exe

For some reason I suddenly feel reminded of Monkey Island and that wizard guy from Discworld, whatshisname ... Rinsewater! ;)

Speaking of tiny specs, yes, the developers did anything in their might to keep them low and the game accessible to all players, even beyond the call of duty. Sadly, it still didn't work out for my onboard graphic card, just as a tiny warning to everyone as poorly equipped as I*. Everyone with a more or less decent gaming rig should be fine though and I applaud the devs for the lengths they went to in order to try and help me. :)

* In b4 any double entendre posts. :P
