JudasIscariot: That's right! For a *mere* 25 dorra, you too can get a flying horse....that was probably created in 2 minutes and made as much money in 12 hours or so as there is GDP in several small countries....
This is what this "steed" looks like.

Christ, I thought you were joking when you said $25. Oh World of Warcraft... what are we going to do with World of Warcraft.
What do mounts and the like actually do in WoW? From what little I can gather, it seems to be a transportation method and the like.
Either way though, from what I have gathered, it takes a while to earn one. So if you just pay now and get the mount as opposed to play for months (for a "normal" person), it is sort of reasonable.
Either way, seems kind of strange to me. Then again, I drank three bottles of Dr Pepper to get some fancy hats in ME2 :p

They just allow you to ride/fly around the game world faster...even though you almost don't need to if you get su...I mean other people at the summoning stone to summon you. Hell, the warlock can practically make a summoning stone now if two other people help him/her.

Maybe it will go Free-2-Play?
Hell, that is the ONLY way I'd ever play that damn thing.

JudasIscariot: Well damn, Taczillabr...didn't see that in the other thread :D.

No problem, JudasIscariot. I just didn't wanted to make another thread, then posted on that forgotten one...
But this deserves some attention from us, gamers. What they'll do next? "Space ponies" in SC2? :/
ActiBlizz will launch their store with support for microtransactions and items (and 140,000+ crack addicts to buy them already), and Steam is preparing for this too.

False.
Oh dear, this is not a good precident.

El_Caz: Proof that brains don't make you rich.

Or simply that people with $25 to burn aren't always going to be mensa material.

When was the last time Blizzard set a good precedent?

I guess if you buy it, you are sure it is worth the money you are giving for it.

If they'd pay me to play it I might consider playing it...
Yeah it's 25 bucks for a spectral horse that flies (and if you already have a +310% flying mount it will go that fast as well)... But that is a lot better than the Furcadia wings (which the people that run that charge $100 per pair per avatar).. especially since when you get it every single character that you have on your account gets it... I'm not going to get it because I'm not playing WoW atm and I have other places money has to go.
Yes, I purchased the first two pets that were $10 a piece.. I didnt think that they were all that bad a thing since I've seen worse prices in F2P games.. But anyways if you want my opinion of Blizzard's pet shop is they are releasing things slowly so technically they probably aren't following what Kotick might be suggesting (which might be to release a ton of crap onto the Blizzard Store including all the exp pots and drop rate boosters you see in all the damn F2P and microtransaction motherloads from Crave Entertainment and a few others) But they are doing it in a way that won't break gamer's budgets... I think it is not a completely terrible thing as they are going slowly with it but... yeah... I still don't want them to start making it like some of the games I've seen where you HAVE to have an item from the mall to get anywhere in the game... i.e. Archlord (tho in Archlord's case you are severely limited in how fast you can level up unless you buy the XP pots) if I remember right they did something similar in STO and Champions Online..... But anyways...
Can we get Dungeon Keepers in here?
Oh and in my opinion Blizzard set a great bar with StarCraft...... although it appears that SC2 might be a little underpar from what I was hoping for.... (APB on the other hand is looking f***ing awesome *is in the beta and can't say much more than that*)

Wow, it seems that for some it's really hard to grasp that some people might actually find enjoyment in that horse and *gasp* assign it some value *gasp*
As for Blizzard, well done! It's doesn't imbalance the game so those not willing to pay for it aren't at a disadvantage nor does it provide access to different content and quests which in my opinion is the way you should do things like these.
Oh the number is well over 120,000 -- I saw a screen shot of one queue of 120,000 and the queues would go up and down all day so it wasn't a fixed thing. And remember some people weren't just buying one, they were buying a few and gifting them. I'd say they made $10 million easily.
In moderate defense the mount is account wide and scales so essentially you never have to buy a mount for your alts again. However, with the latest expansion they made the cost of mounts fairly trivial as opposed to the riding skill you need at various stages.
