Hello everyone!
Many people (including me) heavily rely on user reviews when browsing for a new game to purchase.
There is a not so well known issue with these reviews: once they're committed, they can never be changed.
This leads to a heap up of erroneous or incomplete reviews, ultimately resulting in a loss of reliability of user reviews.
Just to name two examples: I saw many reviews that stated that issues mentioned in top reviews that many users considered useful are no longer relevant, either due to updates or progress in the fan modding base.
I personally wrote reviews that no longer reflect my point of view, either because I gained additional knowledge of because a game has been vastly improved.
Now, this is where you come in: please vote for an option to edit ratings and reviews in the feature request section and so help me make my contribution to the GOG community! My intention is to help everyone by pushing what I feel to be important innovations.
Of course you are welcome to let me know your opinion, also if you're totally against my ideas!

See here for the feature request.

Best regards everyone, JD

You're right. Editing reviews should be possible. If a game has problems on release that are subsequently fixed, the game card shouldn't be full of reviews complaining about those issues. Of course, you can't force anyone to go back and edit their review, but it would be nice to have the option.

Thank you for the encouraging words! (:
Makes sense to me. +1 vote.

Thanks both of you!
agreed, its bad enough to have to wade thru a constant slew of 5star ratings based on nostalgia rather than current gameplay for a new player, but not having the ability to read reviews that reflect current status of the game is a bummer. however, I dont know how editing will affect the rating system, since readers will rate on what they read that day. perhaps wipe the ratings per edit

You're right, this would not take away all problems, bit I think it would be a good step in the right direction.
Why not grey out or minimise reviews done for a earlier version of a game instead?

Because invalidating all existing reviews every time GOG makes a new installer with different banner ads is a bad idea? Sorry, didn't mean to sound so snarky, but that's about it, I think. There are so many updates to games which are not relevant for reviews that I really do think it would be a bad idea.

Don't want to be that guy but I also added the same kind of wish a while ago (wow, more than two years ago actually - doesn't have that many votes, though):

I think it would be a good idea too. A quick glance over reviews is useful, but when they are talking about outdated information they become more of a hindrance towards future sales.
