The quest for coin and cleavage!

The Bard's Tale, the shining pinnacle of comedy among cRPG, bundled with its three classic DOS-era predecessors, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours!

Let's talk about career choices in fantasy realms. You can be a knight, always overburdened by his full plate armor, never able to sneak up on his foes. Plus, your honor code won't allow you to take money for your deeds of valor. You can take the path of wizardry, dooming yourself to all the health hazards that come with handling all the poisonous ingredients needed to cast the simplest of spells. Not to mention the smell! Having your pockets always full of bat dung, just in case you need to cast a casual fireball, never made anyone popular with the ladies. Rangers? Sure, you get to spend much time outdoors, which is supposed to be healthy, but trust me: a lifetime of sleeping in a bedroll on the damp forest floor will leave you with a hell of rheumatism in the old age. A proper bed is a much wiser choice. Even more so, if it's kept warm by a frivolous girl. Some coin is always good, too. My advice--forget all other professions, grab a lute, and be a rockstar. Um--I mean: a bard.

The Bard's Tale delivers solid cRPG gameplay, a vast fantasy realm to explore, tons of quests to perform, and hundreds of items to loot. By all means this is a fully-fledged role playing game, but that's not what it's famous for. Brilliant comedy is where this game truly shines among all other titles in this genre. With excellent writing and fantastic voicing done by Cary Elwes (of The Princess Bride fame) as the Bard, and a gaming voiceover veteran, Tony Jay as the Narrator. There's an extra treat for the die-hard old-school computer RPG fans included with this release as well: the classic Bard's Tales 1, 2, and 3 DOS-era hard-as-nails games.

A fantasy land full of adventure, humor, gold, girls, and moderate danger that wouldn't pose much threat to a battle-hardened adventurer, awaits you in The Bard's Tale, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. Don't wait, because the 60% off discount offer lasts only until Tuesday, October 15, at 9:59AM GMT. Don't forget: with your purchase, you'll receive a FREE copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. That's two classic action RPGs for less than half the price of one!

Great promo guys, but I think there's a little typo here: "a extra treat".

Hmmm.....
Ok, who spied on my wishlist? I only just bought Jade Empire, and now this? Bought! :)

EDIT: And now I have three copies of The Witcher already, heh. It's pretty tough to still find nice people who'd welcome them as a gift. :D

Warning to serious players looking into buying this game: you will laugh out loud numerous times during the course of the adventure... Stay clear if you wish to remain grumpy!

Oh, it's baaaaaaaaaaaaad luck to be you...
Having to run the old BT games through the main program of the new one is some kind of bad joke, it's not like I want to be reminded of this terrible action game (no, it's not even an RPG really) bearing the Bard's Tale name, but it's also incredibly clunky and slow running them in this forced full-screen mode. I really wish they could get their own separate installer.
Really, no seperate installer for the old games? that is bad and unnecessary.
Even if that is creating a dupe, it's not like those games are big.

It's probably because InXile only got permission to include them with Bard's Tale, not sell them separately, afaik. Though that certainly shouldn't preclude at least giving the old games their own installers.

But maaaan playing a game within a game, it's like out of a scene from "Brazil" or something, not to mention that for some reason these 1980's video games using just a few megabytes somehow manage to really eat system resources. Seriously I tried playing BT2 through BT on a slower computer some time ago (dual-core processor) and it was LAGGING, no shit, it was too slow to play and the intro with music was all out of whack.

It's just horrible on every level.

The new one is actually a lot of fun. You just have to forget it has anything to do with the original trilogy

But thanks to the Bard's Tale on Android Play, I can play the originals and the sequels all on my Asus Transformer. >.>
Fun game with catchy music.

If gog's BT is set up the same way as steam's, the old BTs here are Apple versions, running in an emulator off encrypted disk dumps. And BT3 looks like shit, because it never had an Apple IIGS edition.
