Fallen_Zen: More info coming this year.
You wouldn't be looking for beta testers, would you?
All seems nice but I hoped for some awesome (at least 1 or 2) new old games coming DRM-free.

real.geizterfahr: Mostly. Additionally, it'll handle updating your games.

Judas said that the GOG Galaxy client is independent from GOG Galaxy (for multiplayer).

Announcement: I think this is exciting news. There are lots of unanswered questions regarding the layout and function of Galaxy, but hopefully it'll function like an automatic downloader that keeps my files updated! A few things I hope they add:

1. The ability to cancel downloads. (Seriously, Gog, why isn't this possible in the current downloader?)
[...]
But it is - have you ever tried to right-click on a download you've added to the GOG Downloader?

JMich: The example they used in the conference was "You bought the game on Steam, I bought the game on GOG, we want to play online together". That does sound quite fascinating, wish to learn more.
This perfectly shows what went wrong with PC gaming. People find the idea "fascinating" that two people who own the same PC game can play it together... Hope GOG can make this something normal again.

Guys, can somebody summarize for me, what was said in the conference?
I just came home :(
Amazing!

You guys deserve all the money and good stuff.

Thanks for including Latin American Spanish subtitles for the game.

kroc: For now. It always goes the same way with any such software. Mark my words.
The GOG client base is a lot more active than any other. Also their DRM free ways insure in a way that if they go bad I will just pick up my games and leave.

Uplay/Steam/Origin and other similar shit holds you and your games hostage.I am happy that GOG doesn't do that.

I wish my laptop could run The Witcher 3 so i can show my support but i guess i'll get something else from their catalog.

kellzap: Great announcements! Wild Hunt looks bad ass and I may be per-ordering it. But I'm even more excited for GOG Galaxy!!! I've downloaded and back up all of my games, and I would love to use it for easier organization. (Any dates for release?)

But, I'm extremely disappointed that there was no mention on GOG's endeavors with Linux, since we haven't heard anything about it since March.

Fallen_Zen: We're not forgetting Linux guys. We'll be giving more info later this year.
Galaxy is being done with PC, Mac and Linux in mind.
Thank you for the info :D
I would like to know if all GOG Galaxy games are going to support direct IP multiplayer. Direct IP support should be a built-in feature of GOG Galaxy so individual games don't even get a say in the matter. (If games require GOG servers for their multiplayer because they don't support direct IP or any other GOG-server-free MP, I would consider such games to have DRM.)

Announcement: I'm assuming I can launch my games through Galaxy instead of having one desktop icon per game, so the perfectionist in me is super excited about how clean my desktop will be!
Galaxy isn't out yet, but my desktop is already clean (see attached - OS is Vista 64, thin grey bar on the bottom is the auto-hid task bar). Does that mean I'm a more perfect perfectionist?

M1styczny: ... I think the best way to iprove GOG is to add all social / technical features that Steam has but optional (achievements, mods, friendlist ,.........) and add some new features. Steam started as a update client for Half-Life not a store....
I also think this is the way to go but unfortunately in the latest Q&A the answers of GOG were more like: currently we plan no such thing.

Seems they heard us. :)

you can. just right click on the game icon in the downloader, and it should give you the option to remove the game.
So the deal about Galaxy is the multiplayer part. Cross-play sounds amazing, but the question is, will the old games actually support that? Is GOG making a multiplayer "hack" for their old games. Will I be - for example - be able to play Nox online? That somewhat sounds to good to be true.

ThermioN: What about people pre-ordering TW 3, but who already own Neverwinter Nights?
avatar
szparanGoG: Same question. I hope we get a response soon. I certainly would consider pre-ordering The Witcher 3 if it would be another game I'm interested but I don't have yet.
I have opened a support case with gog, asking them if they will offer an alternative to NWN.
I'll let you guys know if there's anything new.
