We're fighting the depressing weather that announces the inevitable approach of autumn with an awesome weekend promo!

Not so long ago we had the Atari-Hasbro games on promo, and this weekend we're putting the 20(!) remaining titles from Atari on offer! So how about getting some of the greatest classics from the Atari catalogue with a flat 50% discount? Get a half-off on The Witcher: Enhanced Edition (only $4.99), Roller Coaster Tycoon series, Outcast ($2.99), Master of Orion series, Alone in the Dark games ($2.99 each) and more! No matter how many games you buy, you get the 50% discount. Check the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/atari_collection]promo page to see the whole offer and don't wait as the promo ends on Monday, October 17 at 11:59 a.m. EDT.

anjohl: GOG is getting the benefit of advertising DnD games for sale, without having to deliver on said sale. If it said Atari Collection (Dnd games not included) I would be fine with it. but trust me, the exclusion of a disclaimer is VERY deliberate.
Why discounting again DnD games when they were on promo not so long time ago?
I decided to get AITD 1-3.

But I'm still not sure on the Blood series ones. Is it worth getting both or is it only worth getting one over the other and if so which one?

Blood 1 is pretty neat, though would be much neater if there was a source port... I have only heard bad things about Blood 2.
Okay, I buckled and got two of them. Are you happy now GOG? Will you stop sending EnigmaticT to my house to pester me, at three in the morning?

P.S. - Thanks

Thanks. I'll just get Blood 1.
Would be nice if I can just buy the soundtracks of some particular games but not the games themselves.

I am not really interested in playing Total Annihilation and Kingdoms. Their gameplay does not appeal to me, and I have not interest in adding them to my GOG bookshelf. However, I love their soundtracks by Jeremy Soule.

Picked up every single title except the ones I have already had. R.I.P and GoG bless you, my dear late wallet.

See, this is another example of a "Oh, it's so obvious that this is deliberate" that I just don't understand. Why is it obvious?

Who would buy more games if they manage to lure people in with what you perceive as this false promise?

People seeing the sale usually come from two places as far as I know - they come here via the e-mail newsletter or they check in on GOG.com anyway to see what's going on. The e-mail had the subject line "The Witcher, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Master of Orion and many more Atari games 50% off this weekend only" - no mention of "All Atari games on sale!!!" that you seem to read. The e-mail body contains a list of the exact games that are on sale, again no mention of the DnD games.

If people come here to read news, the very first thing they read is "Not so long ago we had the Atari-Hasbro games on promo, and this weekend we're putting the 20(!) remaining titles from Atari on offer! " - again, loud and freaking clear. Much, much clearer than the tiny footnote I mentioned as standard fare on other sales on other places.

The only other place I can think of that might regularly lead people here that probably just had a "Atari collection on sale"-message is Twitter. But tell me, who among those who actually follows GOG.com on twitter isn't already aware that they had a big sale on the DnD titles just a couple of weeks ago? Who, among those who are so interested in GOG news that they follow GOG on twitter, would assume that their best selling titles are on sale again?

I know that I didn't assume that the DnD titles are on sale. Partly because it would be completely ludicrous to believe that they would be on sale again already, and partly because GOG told me which games are on sale very, very clearly.

Well, I guess you prove that there is at least one person who somehow, despite all of the above, got "tricked" into believing that the DnD-titles are on sale. But again, why assume that this is deliberate? What would they have to gain? The few people getting "tricked" would be just like you - obviously displeased with their dishonest marketing tactics and probably very unlikely to buy something at this promo.

So again, who would your perceived dishonest marketing trick be aimed at? Who would buy more games if they are led to believe that the DnD-games are on sale when they aren't?

Yeah, if you only want to get one, definitely go with Blood 1. I have both but I don't really like Blood 2. The first one kick ass though.

I'm not sure if you are already familiar with the music in those two games, but I don't recall being that impressed by TA: Kingdoms music, but the original TA has a couple of great orchestral scores.

Ah, Youtube always delivers, these are the ones I was mainly remembering:

So if you could make a game that was a mix of some of the games in the current promo which would you choose?

I wonder if Rollercoaster Tycoon and Blood would be a good mix. The carnival level in Blood was quite creepy back in the day. This could either be a FPS, a strategy game or a mix of both.

A game where you could take the save games from Master of Magic and use them to replay the battles with the all the realism of B-17 Flying Fortress could have been fantastic.

Master of Orion 2 crossed with Independence War 2? Awesome. A bit on the heavy side? Maybe :-)

B-17 Flying Fortress simulation elements used in a game somewhat similar to Star Control 2. Or maybe it would be more similar to Noctis. It would be great either way.

Jeremy Soule is a quite good, albeit overrated composer. The music to TA: Kingdoms is very nice. It sounds like faint echoes of renaissance music clouded by swirling mist. Evocative and dreamy.

Foxhack: A zombie just kicked my ass in Alone In The Dark.

That's what I get for trying to use a sabre against one! This game is awesome.
Awesome. The best word to define AitD 1.
I finished 1 and now i'm very excited to play AitD 2 and 3.
wanted to get MoO 1 and 2 but it wouldn't accept my walmart giftcard, is this because of its international restrictions?
