KOC: This sale has so many fantastic games, right now I'm thinking the only way GOG can top it is with an EA sale next week.
God forbid! I'm already over my self-imposed quota this month...

Fantastic: I've tried the demo of this game, but I was unable to finish it, it was really hard, and maybe the full game would be too hard.
in my opinion, once you get the hang of it, it's much easier than commandos at least the first one. I finished commandos 1, but didn't get through the first mission of expansion which is way harder. But with Desperados, after some trail and error i found the right strategy for me, and actually didn't reload at all at last few missions. You can even go literally guns blazing at some points like they do in good westerns, becouse you can select multiple characters and use all of their weapons at once, it's kinda cool (while in commandos you can only select your soldiers individually to shoot).

jefequeso: If you haven't already, this is the perfect time to pick up Outcast. It's a marvolous game. Very immersive, doesn't feel aged at all, and has some really neat voxel visuals with effects like water reflections and depth of field. Also has one of the best musical scores in all of gaming.
one cannot question the judgment of the dice!

but I will get it someday for sure... so many good opinions about it

think my nephew gave me the original once. i was kinda put off by it called being an adventure (and i am an old school adventure player like sierra and lucasarts) i looked at it for 10 seconds thought okay not my thing)
just got a free gift code for it, so i will surely give it another chance. i am in a phase where i would like to try different type of games.

pdedinski: Locomotion is a Tycoon Game, sequel to Chris Sawyer's Transport Tycoon. Nice attempt, but not much successful.

timppu: Thanks, I think I'll give it a pass. I've bought too many games here already "just because it was there". :)

To anyone who knows, question about Blood 2 and Independence War 1-2:

How is the Windows 7/64bit compatibility? None of them are marked as Win7 compatible, but:

1. For Blood 2, it seems it is working for quite many, at least after some tweaking. Some occasional crashes etc., right? At least that's how I understood from the forum posts.

2. Independence War 1-2 aren't marked Win7 compatible either, yes the little I checked the forum, I don't see any big problems reported and most seem to be running them ok in Win7?

3. Does I-War 1 come with some Glide (3Dfx) wrapper by default, or it will use whichever I've installed on my Windows machine (currently using nGlide in Win7/64bit)?

I have a WinXP machine as a fallback, but of course I would prefer Win7 compatibility as well. I guess I will get at least Independence War 1, as I didn't realize the original CD version (which I have) has problems installing/running even in XP due to 16-bit installer program, same as with e.g. Dune2000.
I just bought and tested I-war 1 & 2 on my Win 7 x64 machine with an ATI 5850 and they seem to start up and play just fine. I haven't run into any problems yet. They run fine on my machine straight out of the box/installer without any need to fiddle around.

It's really not an adventure game. It's more like a fusing of 3rd person shootouts (which, once you get used to the incredibly slow projectiles, is awesome), exploration, RPG questing/dialogue, and puzzle solving. It's basically just a lot of fun, and very immersive.

Action/adventure adventure... many people use vague terms. Makes writing papers on genres hell even ignoring the fact that the industry went crazy about sorting games into genres only in the 90's.

Genres are kinda stifling the industry, too. Makes games far too cookie-cutter.

yeah the term adventure game got really abused alot. some say tomb raider is adventure too or now those hidden object games they call it adventure...

i checked some moves and the graphics sure look great of its time.

wonder if they could bring the nomad soul in here... (think its alike)
