gogtrial34987: Discovered it didn't want to run.
WinterSnowfall: You can just "unzip" the Linux installer - the content of the game should be somewhere in the "data" folder if I remember correctly. You can then copy it to whatever folder you like and run it, hopefully without issues.
There are some ongoing problems with the Linux version though, depending on what Linux distro you're running it on, so if you say the Windows version runs fine under Wine, you might want to stick to that ;).
I have the game working pretty well on Linux now (running the install script with bash instead of dash did the trick (bizarre...)). Still trying some of the suggested fixes for F1 crashing, but I suspect I can live with not switching the camera, too.

There, everything seems to be working pretty much flawlessly, now. I've
documented the bugs I encountered, and how I solved them over on the X-series forum.
Based on what I've seen of the game so far, I suspect I'll have a few false starts before I manage to actually play for a full hour (let alone a full day), but sooner or later I'll be getting around to those diary entries. :)
