snowykitten500: So not sure if this is true, that's why I'm here, hopefully this is the right section for it. Anyway I recently bought the Witcher 3 wild hunt from Steam, never played anything else from the series so I know nothing of it, but a friend of mine who has played the older games told me the main character you play, Geralt, eats children?
While (as the others have already told you) not true, there are lots of dark and sinister rumors surrounding witchers, child-eating is probably pretty average on the scale of things common folk believe the monster slayers to be capable of.
People generally fear and/or shun those who are as differend from them as witchers are so they are likely to believe and spread all kind of crazy sh...tuff. Yeah, shtuff, that's what I meant. :-)
snowykitten500: ...I had originally thought that the guy you play is supposed to be a good guy of sorts.
He's not "good", "bad" or "ugly", he's just... human. Heavily mutated, trained all his life to fight creatures that make most of the other humans (and possibly elves, halflings, gnomes and other races; not dwarves though, they know no fear :-D) crap their pants and run away screaming, but still... all too human. As Geralt you may or may not bring "heartache and woe, deep deep woe" or "happily ever after" to people you meet, it's mostly up to you. ("mostly" is here because you can't go full "Darth Geralt" on people).
