Listing Dosbox games is a waste of your time and our time. If it's a DOS game, chances are it's playable on almost any modern platform.

Windows 9x/XP/etc games that don't run on Windows 7/8 are a lot more important to know about.

Johnathanamz: I think gog.com needs to update the Operating System (OS) and list Windows 8.1 as well not just windows 8.

gog.com please make the video game developers who don't have support for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 to have support for all of those Windows versions.
Should they list Windows 7 SP1 separately from Windows 7 RTM, and Windows XP RTM, SP1, SP2, SP3 separately as well?

Admittedly, Windows 8.1 isn't installed via Windows Update, but through the marketplace, but beyond that, I fail to see how it's any different from any other service pack. Instead they should generally assume that anyone running 8 has installed the 8.1 update (just as they should assume a Windows 7 or XP user has the latest service pack and other updates).

Fever_Discordia: Meh, at least it will maybe prod GOG to update the game cards so the compatibility information can be made more accurate, some of those marked as not compatible with Win8 are DOSBox games, I'd be surprised if they were really affected that much by OS version and Messiah is a LOT happier under Win7 since the recent update that sets it to run with nGLIDE!
That's basically what I'd like done, and since game cards don't reflect that updated and detailed info I felt this list would be helpful to some, even if now buried in the forums and not necessary. It's also just meant to be a point of reference so people can see that as time goes on, less games work on the newer windows. I hope Windows 9 is more game friendly, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's good to hear Messiah works better under Windows 7 though. Many people who go to purchase the game might not know this, nor might they know a workaround.

JinseiNGC224: Games that ARE NOT "officially" on Windows 7 (but do run on XP, Vista, 8):

1) The Longest Journey
Given that 7 is an evolutionary step between Vista and 8, this category doesn't make sense to me. All things considered, I had a much smoother experience with The Longest Journey on 7 than I did 8.
Soulbringer is another one that isn't supported on Win8, and people are reporting awful framerates if they try.
Just update the list to reflect a few edits:

Added Soulbringer to not being officially supported on windows 8, citing framerate trouble

Added info on Messiah that it can indeed work on Windows 7 through nGLIDE, even though the game card doesn't mention this.

What I mention reflects the game cards themselves, not actual functionality, as I state that comparability may or may not work. But not all DOS games are created equal. Your free to share any game info that's wrong specifically. I wouldn't call that a waste of my time as I enjoyed making the list.

Might be worth mentioning Windforge as the gamecard states Win7/Win8, and does not mention XP or Vista.

I'll do that. Thanks! :)
Thank you for this very useful topic. I'm going to buy a new laptop soon, and given they're all coming with that apparently ghastly Windows 8, I'm making finishing the games in that list my new gaming priority. Especially Desperados and Gabriel Knight 3 seem to be the most troublesome.
FRACT OSC is missing support for Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Sudeki is missing support for Windows XP.

Really? I have Sudeki on a magazine DVD and it runs fine on Windows XP. So can anyone confirm this?

It's missing from the store page. Just click on Sudeki and you see it says Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 only.

I just hope the GOG versions runs on Windows XP although it's not mentioned on the store page. IIRC i had to download a sound-patch and after installing it my version just worked fine on XP. I played about halfway through the game without any problems.
Evolva and MDK 2 run just fine on Windows 7 (x64).
