It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

xa_chan: In the article they say:

"Keep in mind that the option to disable the ads only shows up if you have selected Picture or Slideshow under the Background section of lock screen settings. If you’re using Windows Spotlight, which routinely refreshes the lock screen with images from Bing, ads are presumably part of the deal."

Maybe that's why?
That could be it.

Win 10 up to date here. Have selected "picture" - not seeing the setting to enable or disable the ads nor ads themselves ( "yet" ) - may try slideshow/windows Spotlight later today to see if anything changes

Windows is an operating system, it should not have ads.
See bolded...

So anything else?

xa_chan: Maybe that's why?
See my attachment. I do have "picture" selected.
I am not saying that I can't disable the ads, I say that I do not get ads and tips as an option to display.

Same here. Perhaps the new ads--as well as the options to display or not--are a rolling update that has not reached all customers yet.

I'm an idiot. :P
Aside from not wanting them I can't think of anything though.
Aside from if/when a virus gets on the windows store and it gets advertised to you.

From what I recall, that functionality was first revealed in April of 2015. I've heard of slow updates, but that is ridiculous.

P.S. I do believe I know why I'm not getting said option, I just want to see the speculations others make.

Huh. As for speculation, the only thing I can come up with is that I used the early tech build and then upgraded on release.

Must be the 'home' version; The Pro version has extra features or options more easily accessible... Seen this on 7 and XP before.

You mean the "Home" version has the option to show the tips and the "Pro" doesn't? Because I am running the Pro version of Windows 10.

I mean they intentionally block options unless you are normally willing to fork over another $200 for the software...

Regardless from what i understand half of the options to turn off these stupid annoying options are several levels deep already, plus they get 'accidentally reset' during updating sometimes.

But that wouldn't be the case here, since the "Pro" should be the one that has the option to turn off the tips and the "Home" shouldn't, but my "Pro" version doesn't have the option.
Unless you mean that the "Pro" will not be providing tips either way, whether the user wants them or not.

Or is it a general gripe that has nothing to do with this particular issue?

I have Windows 10 Pro. I don't get ads. I do not have the option button to enable or disable them.

After browsing the news around, it seems this feature just rolled out over the last two days. So, they may have announced it in April of last year, but it does not seem to have been implemented until now.

I'll wait until I install the next batch of updates to see if I get it on my pc.
