Doesn't that remind you of when Google decided to require Google+ accounts to use YouTube since they figured they'd get an instant 300 Million accounts to boost their service?

Not that it went too well.... When will G- be removed from YouTube? I wanna be able to access my account again...

Barry_Woodward: SimCity is a pretty big name as well and they just released SimCity 4 May 29th of this year.
SimCity 4 was never Origin-only. It was already available on GamersGate and on Steam, before it even came here.

Barry_Woodward: Just because it's Origin-only now, doesn't mean that a GOG-release is impossible.
If they showed any signs of relaxing the Origin requirement, maybe I would be convinced, but I'm not, especially as they haven't released anything within 6 months here.

You can switch between accounts on youtube.

snowkatt: because of the name
command and conquer is a bigger name then wing commander or crusader
so its better leverage to get people to use origin

i dont see it decoupled from origin any time soon even though you dont need to be onlien to play it

Has EA released any other classic games exclusively on Origin?

Barry_Woodward: I have Command & Conquer: red Alert 3: Uprising in my Steam account.
So? Just some of the leftovers before EA decided to release Origin. There is also Tiberium Wars and Tiberian Twilight there. Let's face it, though; these are hardly the collection people want here. As the wishlist shows, people either want the Westwood era C&C or the Ultimate Collection and none of them are available Origin-less.

American McGee's Alice was also available Origin-only for a while, before seemingly disappearing from other stores (including Origin) Nowadays, you can only buy it as part of the Alice: Madness Returns Collection on Amazon, as an Origin key.

True... Had it been merely that Google+ been better as an optional upgrade they would have seen a lot better reception. But we all know there's no way better to get a bad backlash than to make something mandatory to have that you never needed before and never wanted.

What's worse is Google+ is something of a graveyard. There's like 600 Million accounts.... and like 500Million of those are dead/blank/empty. Sign up for Gmail on your tablet? You get a new Google+ account with nothing you'll probably ever add... not even your name, or even your age...

I guess they hoped for more hype on the social networking scene. Reminds me.... My thoughts on Google+

You sure it's the same one? I only see this, which makes no mention that it includes the older one.

i totally ignored google+
google probably figured that because they own youtube they coudl brute force their way in and get something liek facebook twitter and tumblr
and didnt count on people rejecting it or liking to choose and have things being optional

big companies tend to be very myopic and usually turn in to the thing they claim to hate

It's still available on Amazon as an Origin key, but I have no idea why it isn't sold directly on Origin.
