Finished work for today and sitting on the terrace behind my house with my laptop in the spring sun. Spring hit hard the end of May in the Netherlands, with temperatures rising swiftly to plus 20 Celsius. Yesterday . Unlike most people, it takes me time to get used to the quickening warmth. I feel anxious mentally, when I can't put on the safety of a coat, coats are comforting. Yesterday was the first day I had to go out in a t-shirt because it was too hot for anything else and I felt really anxious and vulnerable. Comforted myself with some music on my mpr3-player, sunglasses and a brimmed hat.

Felt tempted to post in the 'Bitch about life in general'- thread yesterday, but I felt too tired and anxious for typing. Had a bad headache too from the warmth and the sun. But now that work is done and I'm relaxing in the garden, the anxiety because of the voyeuristic sun lessens and I write in the happy thread instead. Feeling a bit of the gladness people usually feel with warm sunny afternoons. Still, mental illness sucks with feeling very on edge with even the slightest noises: chirping birds, talking neighbours, a roaring machine somewhere, everything enters my brain so loudly. I've read somewhere that long-term use of anti-psychotics make the mind more instead of less over-sensitive to stimuli. But farmaceutical companies don't examine the long-term effects as it's not in their interests.

Sorry, I started bitching after all.
I had an awesome day at work, and tonight's my Friday, so woot!
Random cute chick added me on WeChat. Funny thing?. Im almost sure its the same one i saw in the food court earlier today......
Tonight I was in a sold-out reading of an early Kirk Bromley play, "Wants Unwisht Work," at the Drama Book Store just downtown of Times Square.

My part was actually pretty small - I read Rock Random, one of the Wistful Waiters: they are four aspiring actors who discuss and perform a small play for the main plot (Bromley mashes up elements from Midsummer Night's Dream among other sources in this funny, modern, potty-mouthed verse play, so the Waiters are clearly drawn from the Rude Mechanicals in Midsummer). But it's a part brimming with character, and it has enough content to make a fine impression. I got solid laughs where I wanted laughs. The cast for the reading was spectacular, with a few friends and a bunch of folks I didn't know, and it was a pretty amazing evening of theater.

Kirk Bromley, the playwright, was there, and it was fun to meet him, and he was enthusiastic about my performance. There were some old acting friends in the audience, people I hadn't seen in 20+ years, and the whole thing made me happy today.
I bitched and complained to Norton that their price was too high to renew my sub (60$) on live chat.. lol after not giving up they gave it to me for 20$.. So there you go.. you can do that.

Yeah, sometimes persistence pays off...depending on who you are dealing with.
That fight !
I broke my computer this morning at 7am. It was stuck in a reboot loop.
I ignored it for ten hours and pretended it didn't happen.
Finally started working on the problem at 5pm. After about 4 hours of no progress, I finally fixed it, avoiding a re-format and data loss :D

Also, while on my ten hour break, I watched an excellent movie - X-Men: First Class.
My wife kissing me goodbye while she went away doing errands and I stayed at home working.
Firaxis just annouced today that there wil be a follow up for 'Alpha Centauri' called 'Beyond earth'.
Finally after 15 years a follow up; this made my day:)
Got both quite a bit and very little done on the machine today. Thing is, it's a bonus day that I wasn't expecting so this will potentially get me back home a day early this week. If all goes well Monday then I can wrap up here, get a UHaul Tuesday morning, load it with salvage parts from a different machine, and be home that evening. Unload Wednesday and work on the backlog of stuff that resulted from this extended trip. Really looking forward to a few days back home...
Sunshine
