snowkatt: fans who keep hoping against hope ?
and keep buying just for the sake of nostalgia ?

rtcvb32: For.. whatever reason? I don't get that... Why would you throw out or trade in all your game systems and games when you are immediately done playing them at that moment, or when the next one comes out? It doesn't make sense to me...
mostly because most peopel cant afford the new systems and games without selling or trading the new ones in
and most peopel cant keep several system going at the same time

a console is an investment thats supposed to last for years

and when a new one comes out the old one is old hat old tech old games
and unwanted

me ? im perfectly happy with my ps3
got enough games to play for example

I'm going to disagree with you, and blame that most people have horrible money management skills... Like depending on credit cards and paying it back slowly with interest, and buying a house and paying it off over 30 years which adds up to double the cost of the house/loan you originally asked for...

Besides, if you started late often the price of games and systems go down. And at pawn shops / second hand stores, you can find older systems and games very very cheap... Well maybe not as cheap as i'd probably like, but cheap enough that you could have all your older systems as well as games.
^ well that too
but if your a 12 year old kid and you want a new consoel i doubt your parents are jumping for you to lay out another 400 bucks
so you trade your ps3 or xbox 360 in

True... But the blow would certainly be lessened if the new system was backwards compatible so you could still play all the games you loved rather than starting from scratch...

When i was 12 i had a paper route... Saving up money wasn't impossible, but i didn't make enough usually for it to really matter. Although i did eventually buy a SNES, which my dad then hid in the attic to keep us from playing it, then he forgot he put it there... --_--

Reminds me one of the big reasons i didn't buy or care about newer PC games is usually you needed to upgrade your computer, and with making very little on my own, having to drop a lot on upgrades just wasn't worth it. Course looking at budget PC's right now you have no problem playing anything pre 2005. Then again PC's were a lot more expensive for a lot less. $3000 laptops that had Windows 95, 8-bit machines sold for $1,200 or more...
Based upon what I have actually played:

1. Super Mario 64 (3D platforming done amazingly)
2. Goldeneye 007
3. Turok 2
4. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
5. Doom 64
6. Battletanx Global Assault
7. Paper Mario
8. Jet Force Gemini
9. Star Fox 64
My favorite N64 games are Ogre Battle 64 and Harvest Moon 64. Conker's Bad Fur Day is good for a platformer, but I'm not a fan of the genre. Those are probably the only games on the system I would ever bother to replay at this point. Paper Mario certainly isn't bad, but out of the Mario RPG games it's one of the weaker titles, IMO. Most of the remainder of the decent games have better versions on the Gamecube or Dreamcast, so it's hard to recommend anything that has a newer version or is multi-platform. I was definitely a Sega fan and got my N64 late (whenever the Pikachu version released in Japan, as that's the one I have.) Definitely my least played system, but Ogre Battle 64 and Harvest Moon 64 are actually two of my favorite games, so it was worth it in the end :)

1. DOOM 64
2. Mario Party 1 and 2
3. Goldeneye... well at the time. It's not that great anymore
4. Smash Bros
5. Mario Kart 64
6. Diddy Kong Racing

that's it. Only games I really played on my n64 and that's when my cousins or friends were over. Most of my time was playing the PSX

Blast Corps is always a good one to recommend, no ports else where and fairly different from most other puzzle games.

backwards compatability only became a thing with the ps2

then the ps3 xbox 360 and wii followed its lead but before then you either had to keep your old machines and games around and save your pnnies

or trade them in and start from scratch

starting from scratch is not as bad as it sounds because then you only have 1 platform to support on your budget instead old and new

let alone explaining things to parents
parents and video games for some reason dont really mix not even the ones that grew up on video games
because yup a game called dragon age origins with a huge ass 18 on it and a cover where a dragon is made from blood is a okay for a 12 year old

but i digress thats a rant for another time

It only gets frustrating right at the end. The low gravity dump truck levels and the truck with the hydrolic Rams on the sides.

Often when you trade in you get 1/10th or less the value you originally put in. So...

Trade in $500 of items to get maybe $50, which you put forward for your next games...

No it sounds horrible no matter how i think of it.

depends on the store
and they often have trade in specials if you plan to buy a new consoel right away

if you trade in your 3Ds xl for a new 3ds xl at game stop for exampel they knock off half the price tag
and the new 3ds XL becomes 100 instead of 200
and that sort of a deal is especially enticing a 100 is easier to swallow then 200 and so on
