Time4Tea: One Piece - it seemed pretty fun and interesting, although perhaps a bit too ... 'whacky' for my tastes? It seemed a bit random, especially this thing with Luffy stretching like Mr. Incredible. Yeah ... I dunno. I might watch another couple of episodes and give it a chance.

LegoDnD: This post is inciting the Kubrick Stare in me. Did you mean to liken Luffy to Mr. Fantastic or Mrs. Incredible? Mr. Incredible is about as stretchy than the Ever-loving Thing. Anyway, One Piece remains a strong balance of wacky and serious all throughout (although I would say very little of it is random, per-say), just be warned that it's going to be 1200+ episodes when finished and isn't there yet.
Yeah, I'm probably mixing up Mr. Fantastic and Mrs. Incredible. I mean the stretchy one(s), obviously.

I'm not saying One Piece is bad, just that the first episode didn't do an awful lot for me and I was more inclined to try something else. Probably just down to personal taste. I'm watching Vivy: Flourite Eye's Song atm, which is really good and original and seems a bit more gritty and serious. Could also be that I'm a bit older and wanted something more mature.

One Piece has the best foreshadowing I have ever seen in an anime / series. It is just unbelievable. Hopefully you'll give it a second chance.
These is the best for me:
Attack on Titan
Yuri!!! on Ice
Natsume's Book of Friends
I'm watching Magic Knight Rayearth. Half way through the first season. It's pretty good.
Just stumbled upon BIRDIE WING -Golf Girls' Story-. The whole premise of an underground golf scene is just so absurd and dumb, yet the show is a blast to watch.

Also, Deaimon: Recipe for Happiness is a very enjoyable slice of life kind of show. Love the background art style as well.

BLAME! - a brilliant movie
CASTLEVANIA
archer - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archer_(2009_TV_series)
AVATAR - The Last Airbender
LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS
KNIGHTS OF SIDONIA

it sucks, that Netflix is secretly deleting series without any information :(

Must be all the bullets. Enjoying this series as well.

Recommendations for this season from me would probably be:

New: Spy x Family
Ongoing: Tate no Yuusha, Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai

No real big standouts in the rest for me so far.

Watch Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time, naughty but so funny.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood,
Hunter x Hunter 2011,
My Hero Academia,
Assassination Classroom
How is this thread different from https://www.gog.com/forum/general/anime_recommendations?

Black Bullet
Hamatora
Boogiepop Phantom
Bubblegum Crisis is rather good as stated before. There are different incarnations as well.

The Slayers is a fun one if you enjoy comedic adventures but is also quite serious in some spots as well.

Samurai Pizza Cats (English Dub) Is just pure insanity at it's best. You can clearly tell the writers were not taking it seriously and pretty much re-wrote the entire script from scratch but you can have a lot of fun with how absurd some of it is, they even call themselves out on it in the show when scene transitions don't make sense based on the plot.
Star Blazers (which is the US title for Space Battleship Yamato 1-3.) This is a really old one from the late 1970s and early 1980s, but it's still worth watching.
Oof. Took me a bit to find this thread again. Anyway...

I highly recommend Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. While still ongoing - currently at episode 14 out of an increasingly rare 24-straight-episode run - it is without a doubt my favorite anime of the year. It's a bittersweet tale of a former elf adventurer of life lessons learned as she kinda outlives everyone else while taking on a new group to shepherd. Superb animation, fleshed-out and very likable characters, really well-paced humor, and just all around extremely well written.

Also recently watched the movie Suzume which features some excelletn art and animation with at times very well done CG-blend and a quite interesting story. Definitely measures up to Your Name.

I really hope they keep it up because Tomorrow Studios made the anime before Loguetown obsolete; an amazing miracle too that they learned exactly the right lesson from their failure with Cowboy Bebop. Those apprehensive about One Piece don't like it being so long, but the live-action version cuts the fat masterfully. Toei also makes the same mistake with later One Piece that they did with DBZ: instead of writing filler, they just drag out every moment endlessly. So that's a ton more fat to cut, but I have my fingers crossed.
