Just wanted to throw this out there.

I made an order about 2 weeks back, something funky happened and even though the bank transaction went through and the games appeared in my library, the order didn't show up in my history.

I didn't make a big fuss about it, because the games still appeared in my gaming library, but now 2 weeks later, the games are gone from my library.

In my case, I'm lucky that I keep a manifest & backup of all my games locally, so I'll be able to just do a differential with a fresh manifest and tell support which games are missing, but if I didn't do that, I'd be wracking my brain to identify all the games that are missing (I clearly remember only 2 of the 4 games I ordered).

So, in short, if something funky happens with your order history and your order doesn't show in your account, don't be stupid like me, report that cr*p right away and have support fix it while it is fresh. You could lose games and have a hard time tracing which games you lost (GOG's catalog is quite large, have fun perusing every game to remember which game it was otherwise).
And be sure to keep evidence of your orders personally as well. Keep your emails, print to pdf your receipts and orders.

Sometimes GOG hiccups, and if you want your wrestle with support to go swimmingly then you'll want to have such documents handy.

Magnitus: I made an order about 2 weeks back, something funky happened...
Sounds like what happened to me about a week ago. Bought a bunch of games with ~$82 worth of wallet money. During checkout I get this nonsensical page that there was a problem with the bank/credit card transaction (while using wallet funds; also didn't have problems adding funds to the wallet just a moment prior), but the games appeared in my account and I was able to download them. So I shrugged it off....

A few days later I noticed the games disappeared from my account and those $82 hadn't been refunded either. Then I went to check my order history/e-mail to see what's going on, and I realized I never got any notice of the transaction at the time. I still haven't heard a single thing from support other than the ticket was "being processed" two days ago whatever the hell that means.

Now I'm wary of buying anything from GOG until I hear back - I certainly don't want this to happen again - and the way things are looking I'll get fucked since the sale will end before I expect for anyone to really look into this. I was thinking of grabbing a few more games before then, but I ain't risking it... Yeah, I'm a bit pissed about this. =/

Also, this was the first time I had to deal with support since they introduced the chat bot gatekeeper thing, and it fucking sucks. Just give me an easy way to submit a ticket to support without having to deal with that piece of shit that kept giving me useless and irrelevant info/questions. "Oh, hi, my order disappeared. ... No, why are you asking me questions in French now? ... No, don't ask me questions that have nothing to do with a missing order. ... Just submit a ticket, damn it!" UGH!!!!!!

Yeah, I got annoyed about this too at the moment it happened, but then I thought about it and chilled. I must admit thought that the chatbot didn't improve my mood when I was under the initial shock and was filling the request. I only started to relax once I got an email from GOG following my interaction with the bot that I could reply to.

With 10+ years history, 2000+ games and very few support requests with GOG (didn't count, but I'd say less than 10), I'm not too worried that they'll make this right. The order was ~62$ and them risking that relationship for that amount simply doesn't make sense.

I'll guess that I'm not the only one this happened to and granting a small reasonable ask the customer makes that doesn't strongly impact the bottom-line, especially when the customer is most likely in the right, is basic customer service 101. Anyone who doesn't do that is unlikely to stay in business for very long.

I think the greatest annoyance is not so much GOG's lack of goodwill with this, but:
- The likelihood that the problem won't be noticed for a while if you don't keep a localized record of your games and have a large collection
- The fact that even if you notice something is amiss in the above situation, good luck trying to figure out the exact content of the order assuming the order is not very recent if you don't keep a record.

Hence my post to notify follow GOGers that these things seem to happen (I've had an incident of a game vanishing from my account with Daggerfall, but that was my first combination of games vanishing AND not having a record of the order in my account to help with the logistics once I zeroed in on one game I knew was missing... that was a little jarring).

Thanks for letting us know, and a timely reminder.

I always check, and always immediately save that Orders web page to html file, for two reasons really. One it lists the order number and my own personal double check so I don't have to rely on my memory or can at least confirm my memory one way or the other.

I have certainly had instances in the past where I haven't gotten an email receipt for a game purchased at GOG. No idea why, but it happens. So other records can be vital.

In the GUI I created for your program gogcli.exe, is an option to reveal orphans. This is great to find removed demos and renamed games (I think) where the Game ID may have changed and even removed games or DLC in the case of Hard West 2 DLC. I haven't needed to use it in a while to check, because thanks to GOG Forum threads and me paying close attention and using the LAST button on my GUI, after every purchase, I always know when something like that has changed. But then I buy games at GOG fairly regularly or grab every new demo, so my Games list in program is always being updated.

P.S. An added benefit, is because the missing entry still exists in my GUI records, I can re-instate it until next update at least, and gain access to the download URLs, and as I have discovered, they can still be active. That was the case with a demo that was removed, and may be the case for the Hard West 2 DLC. Though I certainly always immediately download when I acquire from GOG, so not really a necessity for me to bother re-instating to grab file(s).

There's obviously some internal glitch there if it's happening with Wallet Code that isn't used any outside funds. Or maybe GOG is trying to do it 'the stupid way' by requesting a $0.00 transaction with the bank / Paypal, that gets declined and then GOG's system gets confused and both confirms & denies the order at the same time?...

Indeed. Better receipts are something I've been arguing for to GOG to improve for a while, both the ability to directly download a PDF receipt from the orders page and also include / restore the ability to get some sort of proof of activation / ownership for recipients of gifted games (that GOG used to provide but randomly stopped doing so sometime around 2015):-

https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/bring_back_the_this_is_your_redeemed_gift_summary_emails

Someone really needs to go through and improve the whole payment / receipt backend system as if anything the store with offline installers makes it more important to have local PDF receipts in the long run, not less.

Tell that to Amazon, who in their wisdom (lack of), no longer provide what a Kindle ebook receipt is for. They even claim it is not a receipt. All it contains is the order number, also the only defining part of the email title, and what you paid for whatever the purchase was. So if you want a proper record, you have to go to the web page record and save your own copy. Too bad if they screw their records up some time in the future, and you have to rely solely on your memory to prove ownership, especially if the ebook web page no longer exists.

My way around it, at least for my memory double check, is to Edit the email and paste the Title and Author name in, and keep a copy of that. A pain in the ass really, and something they changed only a year or so ago. Why I really don't know, but certainly my trust has been eroded, and it is another strong reason why I buy my ebooks mostly at Kobo now.

So what's the simplest way to export a list of all my orders and games?

I'd really rather not go spelunking through 8 years of emails from GOG..

Good luck with that.

You can export a list of your library with Playnite. I don't know about the order receipts. Maybe you could use something like Autohotkey to auto-click through the steps to print each receipt as PDF.

Same. Bought wallet funds - everything fine. Used wallet funds to buy games (needed to top up the wallet funds because I was 8 cents short). Then get a notice when clicking buy that there was a problem with the bank (which is nonsence as I bought the games with wallet funds). Look at my library - the bought games are there. So thought that was a display bug. Downloaded the offline installers (which I do with all games I buy) and installed the games. On Thursday I look at my library - the games are no longer there. Look at order history - there is an order of wallet funds, but no order of the games. Look at wallet fund history, there is and order number for the games I bough, but when I click on it - it finds nothing.

Wrote support. By firstly battling the bot, because it has no "back" option when I selected the wrong option as I first selected that there is a problem with my game. But there was no option of the game being missing from the library. After turning the support on and off (to restart the bot) selected "account problems" and then "other". The wrote the problem, bot asked for email, i provided it and then got an email that a ticket was made. Then replied to the e-mail with more details and added screenshots of the wallet history and an order missing from order history which is showm in wallet history. Also noticed that the sums of walletfunds in wallet history, current funds and in the dropdown menu when hovering over the username are all different.

On saturday I got an e-mail telling me that the ticket is being processed and that currently there is a heavy support traffic (i imagine many might have found their bought games missing).
I had a similar issue. Paid through Paypal (as I often do), game got added to my account, but I had an error message of some sorts after the payment, I never got the usual email from GOG and the order wasn't listed in my account (but I got the email from Paypal).

I checked the game, bought something else to see if the problem repeated (it didn't), and after a day or two without the email or the order ever appearing, I submitted a ticket. It took them a while to respond, but they mentioned this being due to a rare bug which changed the order status retroactively, and they gave me a code to add the game I had bought to my library (I didn't monitor the situation to see if the game ever became unavailable during that time).

I don't know if the fact that paypal recoreded the order number was useful or not, but at least things got resolved swiftly once support contacted me.

Something weird going on there, so I am not surprised Support are struggling with it.

Better off using the real thing, AutoIt, rather than that weaker fork of the previous full version of AutoIt, developed without permission due to a loop hole. That said, I doubt the pdf print idea would be a great solution anyway.

The best solution I find, is to keep a record as you go, in something like an Excel spreadsheet. You could even do that with AutoIt, for previous and new. All you need really, is the order number, game title, price and date. With a spreadsheet you get sorting options, and everything in one easy to check place.

I'm not taking that risk or advising others to, but suit yourself.

Mmmmhh.. running a whole windows application just for that seemed overkill, so I made a super quick and dirty browser extension for exporting the library. Only tested in firefox, and there's zero error handling innit. http://fpaste.dy.fi/wbB/dl

I might look at exporting orders another day.

I have the email of every purchase I've made here. It makes life so much easier when I can send them the transaction ID and everything.
