I'm always on the lookout for games to play, even though my backlog is ever-expanding. I'm sure there have been topics like this, but I thought I'd ask. Any recommendations of relatively unheard of gaming gems that you thought were just amazing? (Doesn't have to be GOG, I'm pro-Steam as well.)

I was really enthralled by "Sheltered" on Steam, as an example. I'm open to a lot of different genres and styles, though. <3
I happen to like Dragon Wars. It's an RPG set in a setting I would call a "magical dystopia". Magic (except Low Magic) is outlawed, and you start out in a prison known as Purgatory, from which there are multiple ways to escape. Also interesting is that your Health (what the game calls HP) is unlikely to leave the teens.
Psychonauts, Beyond Good and Evil, Project Eden, Magrunner: Dark Pulse. All right here on GOG.

I was also quite pleasantly surprised by a little game called Soul Gambler I got from Desura (it's available on Steam too).

Tri: Of Friendship and Madness is an awesome first-person puzzle game if you can be patient and take your time exploring each level.
If you haven't played it yet, you should give the DROD series a try. It's one of the best puzzle game series ever made.

Ahaha, okay... :D

I really enjoyed the indie game Miasmata. A real pretty game that makes walking in the woods and picking flowers fun. Plus, it's map/mapping system is the best I've encountered as of yet; utilizing Landmarks and triangulation to find your location.
