CelineSSauve: They keep you coming back?
Unfortunately, they still don't offer regional pricing for Canada, so I end up paying 2.5% to my credit card on top of the exchange rate...

I haven't spotted games cheaper than they were before?

seashells: I haven't either
Jotun went from 2.98 to 2.89....

SoanoS: I see.

Time of the year this cancer that is Insomnia sale appears again. I didn't find it enjoyable or exciting last year, and this year is no different.

Anyway. I don't get it. How can a digital, non-physical item have a limited number or "run out"? Sounds like an excuse to make people go for an impulse purchase because "It is limited". Got to admit, the sheep really is a clever theme, it describes the gullible people who always fall for these "sales" and spend way too much money on them.

kohlrak: Agreements on how many they can give out for free. Remember, they're working with the companies that actually own the rights to the games. Temporary sales is advertising of the game at full price.

Oh, well. At least I didn't waste a cent on this promo.

I can't help but feel a little bit "of schadenfreude" toward those people who went and splurged all their money only to get a "free" game and only got 9 games or less and got thoroughly shafted.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the odd themed sale every now and then, but I feel this format is a bit unfair towards people who can't sit at their computer around the clock repeatedly hitting F5 to refresh the page like the sadsacks they are. :P

If only would just cut down their prices across the board permanently instead.

I really wish GoG returned to their roots and started releasing Good Old Games again. I have grown a bit tired of these "indie" games. In my opinion "shovelware" would be a much better term for some of this garbage..

Anyway, enough of me ranting. I know this earns me a lot of hate but I just had to say it. Carry on.

kohlrak: I am gonna hate myself for the pun, but you consider Shovel Knight shovelware?
Call me sad sack anytime - I don't mind.

saberstorm11: if only no man's sky was offered with discount ... that game so pricy
avatar
Niggles: Dev is probably confident more than enough people will keep buying it at its existing price. :/
Everybody is entitled to his own delusion.

Leroux: Heh. "Awesome offer: Buy 10 games to get a random freebie you'll likely never play, and whoops, we've already run out of copies, sorry." The freebie promo during this sale is quite embarrassing. XD
avatar
mkess: I am here for games of my wishlist, not some freebies I already own.

Bought Victor Vran and X-Wing Alliance. I don't regret buying them both.
Well, I don't need any freebies either and as the saying goes, never look a gift horse in the mouth, but I still find it somewhat amusing that this should sound attractive and cool to anyone. As I see it, this is not a gift to reward loyal customers, it's part of a promotion and meant as an incentive to buy more, because they make such a big thing out of it, and it's embarrassing that they can't really deliver - not only is it a weak incentive in the first place, they can't even keep it up until the sale is over. The sad thing is that this seems to suggest that it's working regardless, no matter how lame I think it is.

Anyway, I guess it's also a sign of the times when games are sold like any other consumer goods, buy 10, get 1 for free, regardless of how much time it would require to play through all of them or whether you'd actually like or play them at all. The more, the better, just put them on your shelf. ;)
ugh soma...not my kind of game..has good reviews though

Perhaps will be the biggest dissapointment of 2016. Few concrete information plus hype is suspicious.

I liked the story, mechanically less enjoyable than Amnesia though.

No Man's Sky has a story? Isn't the huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge universe all they are talking about?

Klumpen0815: Every game I checked was regionally priced, how are you supposed to use all this store credit if you got most of the old pre-regional catalogue?
avatar
jadeite: You can use store credit on regionally priced games, it shoud be applied to your next purchase.
Which in turn make you pay for additional store credit again thanks to the vast percentage of regionally priced games.

For those making and selling games, this is exactly how they're usually viewed. They didn't make games because they enjoy them, but to make money off of our interest. If we're silly enough to buy to shelve (I did since there are some great games my computer can't handle but a future computer I buy will be able to), then the more the merrier.
