Currently, there are many users, including myself who are being shaved of REP everyday for no good reason. There is either a script targeting specific users someone or someone with multiple accounts logging in, searching for and downrepping the posts individually. This results in a decrease of rep without immediate ''low rated'' marks, and only becomes evident after the guy / girl / script downvotes multiple times through multiple days.

-REP encourages a an atmosphere where the people in debate are un-incentiviced from doing so
-it gives a quick and dirty option to people who are too dumb to engage in discussion
-there is no limit for down or upvoting per day, meaning the system itself has little value
-this further promotes creation of multiple accounts to mass downvote
-it may at some point disable a long time member from doing basic stuff like linking, and reduces the fullness of their experience
-it creates a sense of false popularity / impopularity, since the system is exploitable and people can easily create accounts to upvote themselves

What I'm asking is:
1.Remove the REP system OR
2.Make it so that one IP ADDRESS can only do 6-8 vote actions per day OR
3.Make it so that users with X number of posts can post links OR
4.Make it so users with enough days on the forum / posts / purchases can post links
Did you post in the Gamergate thread?

It's a warzone that thread is.

I don't know who dereps me their. Pro or Anti?

Not before there is an Ignore function for the forums.

Actually there is. I've never seen more than 5 rep/day change except when answering questions.

If we had that no one would talk to me. :P

Okay that got screwed up, the pic is for the forum title and the comment is a reply to Starmaker. My head hurts now.

I'll tell you what needs to die. Fucking twice-daily threads complaining about rep. It's worse than the rep system itself. Most of us do fine ignoring the fucking thing.

Are we still talking about rep?

Ofc. What else happens once a month? A greenlit game from 2013 gets released?

Yeah...that's what I was talking about.

*cough*
Ignore it, yeah. Best option for now.

My problem with it is that if I get a downed post, I may have no idea what in the world I did wrong to earn it. Whatever I write might be perfectly reasonable to me and my perspective on things, but some other folks see it differently and click the little button. And then they don't comment on it. Unless it meets the threshold for actually showing up as neg'ed by multiple people, then I'll have no indication whatsoever that someone neg'ed. How am I supposed to learn that my comment bothered someone if you don't take the time to tell me why?

It's an almost-completely ineffective behavior modification tool, if you ask me. And if it's not there for behavior modification, then what's the point?
I think this is the longest I have went in months without a down rep. I was totally being targeted for a while.
Also do away with join dates and post count. Way too much elitism going on in forums (all forums, I am not singling out this one) where posts are judged on who is posting rather than what is posted.

Every forum I have ever been on there have been cliques (most specifically the old PC Gamer forum) and people with low post counts 90% of the time were targeted for suggested inferiority simply because they are new to that particular site.

I haven't been hit in 3 days.
