Far Cry has a very enjoyable audio track playing if you have the menu open (length 05:27). You can get it if you copy the Music.pak file from the folder FCData of the Far Cry installation directory, copy it somewhere, rename it to .zip, unpack it and listen to MenuMusic_shortversion.ogg in Music\MENU. (Other funny stuff is the mercenary talk to which you can listen if you unpack english.pak from FCData\Localized and e.g. open the .wav files in Languages\missiontalk\training.)
Hopping here to point out two small mistakes…

Caesar 3: music files are in WAVE format, not MP3

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri: the whole soundbank used in building the in-game soundtrack is readable in WAVE format, but the music itself can't be heard outside the game, due to it being generated in real-time while playing

Anyway, great work guys!

Thanks! I've updated the Caesar 3 entry, and added an [info] annotation to Alpha Centauri that points back to your post. Good to know that it is another game that uses a procedural soundtrack process.

Thanks and a couple of questions - Is there any other music in the game besides the menu? If so, are there any other music tracks that can be extracted like the menu track?

Yes, e.g. FCDATA\Music.pak > Music\Titletrack\Titletrack_demo.ogg and Titletrack_demoend.ogg.

There are tons of other sounds, but usually between 5 and 30 seconds long. They are used for creating an (intense) atmosphere)

Thanks! :)

Could you, please, do me a favour?

Could you please list in a single post all paths that contain music tracks so that I can add the game to the list and link back to your post for the necessary info? :-)

From the Far Cry install directory, go into the subfolder FCDATA, copy the Music.pak somewhere, rename it to Music.zip and unpack it. The unpacked files are sound files and are mostly for creating atmosphere.

Sound files with longer duration:

Music\MENU\MenuMusic_shortversion.ogg 5:27 (the track which gets played while the menu is open)
Music\MENU\MenuMusic_shortversion_old.ogg 1:07
Music\install\Installer_Music(%L2).ogg 0:56
Music\JUNGLE\Alert\Main_Layer\AL_Jungle_108_main_darkflute_01.ogg 0:34
Music\JUNGLE\Combat\Incidentals\CB_Jungle_108_inci_atmo_06.ogg 0:44
Music\MUSIC_CUES has a bunch of titles longer than 0:30
Music\the_ship\atmostpheres\Ship_108_inci_Waterbeat.ogg 0:34
Music\TITLETRACK\Titletrack_demo.ogg 01:58
Music\TITLETRACK\Titletrack_demoend.ogg 1:47

The soundtrack of today's release of Bad Mojo Redux (two CDs) can be purchased at the site of the composer Xorcist.

Just scroll through the listed albums on the main page all the way to the right and add them to your cart. ;-)

Please note that though these are the CDs of the original game, the music of the Redux Edition is untouched:
Bad Mojo Redux is a re-issue of Bad Mojo, originally released in 1996, updated for newer computer systems. The core game has not been changed, but technical issues have been eliminated and the FMV sequences have been enhanced. This version contains a making-of documentary, concept art and storyboards.

Sweeeeet! :D
Just noticed that Mark Seibert's King's Quest VI soundtrack is missing the joke song "Squirrel With The Power". Some cd's of KQVI have this song and some do not... I know that it is not on my KQVI cd.

It is possible that Mark had nothing to do with this song and that would be the reason it was not included.

It can be found here if anyone is interested:

I really would like to know some background info concerning this track as it is not on all KQVI cd's. So, maybe it was only included during certain print runs? There are even a few KQVI cd's that do not include Girl in the Tower... Rather strange to include the tracks on certain print runs at random.

I'd have to research it to give a good answer. Possibly there is variance if it was handled by different publishers, or published in different regions. Could even be differences between publishing runs with the same publisher. Or it could have been a track that someone sneaked onto a publishing run and which was later pulled (such things have happened before with music CDs). As I say, proper research would need to be done to find the real cause.
