I'm working on a comprehensive list of GoG games that work well on Windows 7 and 8 and hold up fairly well against modern PC standards. So far I'm certain I'm missing a few, message me to help me update it :)

It is, but some hold up a lot better than others. All the games on the list have to control well on modern systems and either be possible to run wide screen on lower resolutions without looking god awful or have higher resolution settings that don't make everything unplayable small and eye straining.

Yeh I know what you mean my old toshiba here starts to cook on 10 yr old games!!
I really appreciate how you added a description of WHY you were recommending each game to your mix; thank you!
Hmph, just noticed that they filtered out HTML from mix game descriptions. In my games played one, for those I had reviewed I had links to the reviews, on both blog and MobyGames. Ah well, will just add the URLs there, even if it looks uglier and it's not clickable.
List of GOG games using DOSBox. I know there are others, but I'm confident that this is the most complete and up-to-date of them.
I would like to promote this GOGmix by the.kuribo:

Here's one by DryvBy that made me laugh:

Games Your Mom Wouldn't Approve

Nice polar opposite to the previous GOGmix I linked :D

Oh thanks! I didn't realize you had made a post on this. I've been meaning to update the list a bit and flesh it out with recommended ages and info on things like what qualities make it good for kids, educational opportunities, etc. Same thing with the main Parents of GOG thread -- I started making some headway but then realized that there are way too many games that could fall under the umbrella of "good for kids" so it would benefit from having some more structured categories such as age brackets, educational skills, things like that.

Hopefully I'll have some time to properly update the list & thread soon!

Oh, and I'll also take this opportunity to pimp my other list: Games with a Text Parser Interface
