matterbandit: Hate my job so much. It's brimming with petty mind games and backstabbing and indifference and incompetance, I feel so drained of energy when I get home, it takes so much effort even to just read these forums. :( Feels like I had the worst work week ever. On the verge of quitting without landing another job first. So very tempting.

Sorry I missed your post. You are absolutely right. First time I was sick, I tested myself on day 3, but this time around, I tested myself on day 1 and I should have waited. Who knows, maybe I caught Covid twice? On the bright side, I was only sick for 3 days that weekend.

DubConqueror: I'm sorry you're job is such a sickening place (to your mental health), but I upvoted with a like not because I like your job sucks, but as a cheers that you got well soon physically. I wish you luck finding a better workplace (or better still, the workplace improves as that would benefit even the stayers).
Two secretaries are going to lunch. Sec1: "God, I hate my job!" Sec2: "No dear, you hate your boss." Bingo! As a self-employed escort nonpareil, we have the kindest, most thoughful boss in the world. He is a Prince among gigolos, and the fairest person in the mirrors adorning the walls of our shrine to Narcissus. ((;--))

Also hoping you find a new work situation.

Friend, you have to do what's best for you and your situation. If you need the money, I pray for strength for you to grind it out until another job is available. I'm so blessed with my job, because I love what I do, and they pay me well to do it.

DubConqueror: It could still be Covid though. When I had Covid, I only tested positive when I was already sick for two or three days.

Thx for all your thoughtful comments! :) Seems kind of petty now, complaining about my job when there are people that I know who are experiencing more serious life hardships. :( I've calmed down since and realize that I need to resist the temptation to rage quit without planning a proper exit strategy. I envy you with jobs that treat you well! Lucky you! Makes waking up in the morning much easier! xD

It's not petty. Also technically no matter what anyone complains about here in this thread, there's someone else with a worse situation. The whole point of a thread like this is just throw it out there without feeling like you're being judged... so any time you feel like you need to vent about work, you vent about work.

Exactly this. We all have hardship, and one is not necessarily worse than another because it's all relative. But difficulties in your job can lead to difficulty elsewhere. It's very hard to carry that level of stress around, and drop it at the front door. The human mind and body don't work like that. You have to take care of yourself to be there for those who need you.

You're right. I shouldn't feel guilty about venting. That's the point of this thread. Thanks. ;)

That kind of stress does and can indeed "poison" other aspects of my life. So true! And thanks for reminding me to take care of myself so that I can be there for those who need me. I never thought about it that way. ;)

Lost my camera... Sure, it was one of the cheapest even back when I got it, now any smartphone is better than that, but I don't want a smartphone and, either way, there were the pictures taken that day, and plenty of others taken by parents still on the card, which they might not have saved elsewhere (asked and they weren't sure)...
I guess that's what you get trying to function on basically no sleep. Was bound to bite me someday...
Tree planting event Saturday, had to be at the meeting place early and with me being a full night owl, if I got half an hour of sleep I'd be surprised. But all well for the event itself, get on the last bus (buses left as they filled, as volunteers who had arrived by bus called it a day), for some reason decide not to look through the pictures there, as I otherwise did every time I took the camera for something, just put it back in the cover and put it away... And whether I wanted to put it in the backpack and missed or actually put it in my jacket and it fell when my jacket fell out of my arms, or whether that happened just as I meant to put it in the backpack and I set it down to retrieve the jacket and then forgot about it, no idea, have absolutely no memory of it. Probably relaxed after thinking that I had made it through the day and parts of brain were starting to doze off...
There's also a chance it was in jacket and it fell after I stepped off the bus. Small chance, but...
Either way, what's clear is that I didn't have it when I got back, and asked the NGO organizing the event, they asked the bus company, and today was told they didn't find anything on that bus.

Can you find out if the bus company has a lost property department ?, and enquirer if someone has handed it in, or if they can contact you in future if someone eventually does (by offering them your contact details) ?. Definitely worth a try...

They didn't tell me what the company is. Did ask earlier if it'd help if I'd contact them myself, but to ask directly for the contact info would mean another message now when I feel that I'm pressing too much already.
But keep thinking that I'll never get it out of my mind unless I have a look in that bus again. Should have asked specifically to do that as soon as I noticed the camera missing instead of asking them to ask the firm, maybe the bus hadn't been cleaned yet and still in the area, I could have gone somewhere to it. Now it'd probably be pointless anyway, even if it is a small camera and black and in a black cover, so especially if it ended up between seats or behind a seat, or behind the foot of one, it may be hard to notice unless you know just where to look and what for. But still...

Cavalary: I feel that I'm pressing too much already.
Press as much as you feel you need, it's your camera, and your loss, not theirs. I'd push if I were you, especially if the camera means so much. I have enough possessions that if I were to lose, (most paid for out of my own money or have huge sentimental value), I'd almost be creating WWIII to get them back...
Never move into a HMO (House of Multiple Occupation). You have no (or very limited) control of your ability to sleep, shower/bath, and if the kitchen/diner is shared, to cook and eat too. And don't get me started with privacy or personal entertainment between very thin internal walls...

Always hated that. In one place it was good for a while, but our work / life / interests were well balanced enough that even in an early 1900s built, echoey terraced place we never seemed to bother each other outside of the normal "we have to live together" fact of life.
granted, that was 20 years back, but as a hermit i do empathise.

I realize that this complaint probably is very trivial.....

The dog has been smelling bad in a really needs a bath sort of way for about about two weeks now and is only getting increasingly aromatic with each passing day. The problem is that the dog is around 50lbs, which is around the upper end of mid-sized dogs and not quite a large breed. I can't just pick the dog up and bathe it in the sink or I would have done so. I also have a small car, which would mean taking the dog somewhere would result in smelly dog smell very close to me and super distracting in a bad way.

I just want the person in the house that was super insisting that we have a dog in the house actually take some responsibility for the smell and get their dog a bath.
