That's it. That's literally it! Now you've gone and done it and there's no turning back. You really really HAD to do it didn't you?

How the HELL are you going to top releasing The Gold Box games in the future?! Are we seeing the peak of GOG? A time we'll look back to in wonder? GOG gearing itself up for some major nostalgia factor in the future?
Ha ha I'm almost shitting myself here in pure drooling old school RPG feelings. Control of body functions slipping...

They could top it by releasing the best 3 Gold Box games; the Dragonlance trilogy! :D

There are always remaster's / HD / remake version if the old games sell well. Like Homeworld and HoMM3 and Myst and Monkey Island and Gabriel Knight, Shadow Gate and Baldur Gate and Icewind Dale and........
They could top it by also releasing the Dragonlance, Buck Rogers, Dark Sun, Al-Qadim and Ravenloft games. And Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, Curse of Monkey Island. Followed by Doom 1&2, Heretic, Hexen, and Wolfenstein 3D for all Germans. Then American McGee's Alice and The Neverhood, and a short intermission in which they announce the return of the Fallout games to GOG, along with XIII and Blade of Darkness. And then System Shock, Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen and NOLF as cherries on top. Well, that's just a humble suggestion, I haven't run out of ideas yet. ;)

That would not top this. But it might almost equal it. :)

No! Nostalgia Heresy! No way that would top this.
Maybe it's just me but as interesting as the release is it is fairly forgettable in comparison to some of the past releases. No offense of course.
There's always more. After all, every minute that ticks away, another game comes closer to becoming a 'good old game.'

Steam/Origin/Uplay may have a large user base on their side. GOG has time itself on its side. We triumph because we endure.
They could easily top it by releasing classics like C&C Red Alert, C&C: Tiberian Sun, Dune 2000, Dune 2, Warcraft 1,2,3, Emperor: Battle for Dune, etc. Maybe they could finally release Planetar Annihilation: Titans. For me this release was ok but nothing special.

There is always more out there.

They could top it by releasing actual D&D editions.

Whilst I am not totally against remakes, I would definately take BG/IWD "enhanced" editions out of that equation. Applying a widescreen patch, adding some bugs, and refusing to support existing customers even though there is no reason to not make modules compatible with the normal version, doesn't in my world equate to enhancing anything.

As for the others, I thought the MI two were ok, though others disagree. The others I haven't played.

Ah yes that is by definition CLASSIC! Though I am abit concerned you did not mention C&D Tiberian Dawn. Still the best in the series in terms of story and great atmosphere.

Ah, that is cause the first C&C game I played was Red Alert and only years later I played C&C Tiberian Dawn. So Red Alert kind off has a special place with me and kind of counts as the beginning of the mainstream series. Afterall the story from Red Alert continues in to C&C lineup with Nadia/nod disciple killing Stalin at the end of the Soviet campaign.

As much as I love Red Alert, I always felt it did some things kind of wrong for the series. The weird plot twist at the end was brilliant though haha.

Dune, Dune 2, Emperor Battle for Dune, Dune 2000

But what would really be the peak of GOG (when it comes to old games) would be all he rest of Star Trek games. The Final Unity above all, and then Away Team, Bridge Commander, Borg, Armada, Elite Force, Elite Force 2, Klingon Honor Guard, Hidden Evil, The Fallen, Harbinger. Now that is the GOG's final frontier for me.
