Telika: Yes. I'm not extremely fond of these stylized characters (especially in a game that invests you more into their individualities than in P.A.), but the design is still serviceable.

Ah they they have the same imbecile lack of character customization, with an expensive add-on allowing you to add your character to their global roster. It's dumb but that's how these devs roll.

tinyE: what is the game?
Rimworld. It's the same building mechanics as in P.A., but about surviving on the planet where your spaceship crashed. It's basically a crafting/survival game à la Subnautica, Terraria, etc, on a Borderlands-like setting (space old west vibes), with more base-building than exploring, and a strong focus on the psychological need of your characters. And different factions to trade or fight with. Hm. Hard to summarize actually (some call it Dwarf Fortress in space, but I've never played Dwarf Fortress, so I don't know how accurate that is). Edit: Also with cover-based RTS shootouts. Forgot to mention this.

Anyway, I'm spectacularly obsessed with it, these days.

Yeah. And no discount ever, ever ever ever, ever, ever ever ever ever. It took me some time to decide myself.

And no GOG either, but on the plus side you get a drm-free copy when you buy from their website.

superstande: Hmm... Looks interesting... What game is it?

Oh wait is it X3...

viperfdl: X3 Terran Conflict to be precise.
Hm i wonder when they added that you can fix your ships with the repair laser of spacesuit exactly in which game.
Mayber it's for x3 terran conflict only.
I need to get back to playing x beyond the frontier one day and play x2 and x3 games.
Meeting old friends from D&D in Final Fantasy XV. :)

The repair laser isn't really useful except at the beginning when you have not much money or for repairing small damages because the amount of hull points the laser repairs when firing until the energy is completely drained, is very low; maybe 200 points. With max hull points of probably 9000 for an M3 or 25000 for a M6 and repeated recharging of the laser, a full repair can take a while.

Oh and a tip for X:BtF: don't think of fighting before your ship has two 25MJ shields because enemy fighters can turn on the spot which usually results in a head on head crash when you chase them.

Nope, it's not the same dev. RimWorld is made by Tynan Sylvester (Ludeon Studios), which took inspiration from Prison Architect's art style. Full answer here, towards the bottom of the page.

Anyone wanting to buy the game, should probably do it now, because it will have a price increase when is out of early access. And no discounts, at least for a few years.

Oh cool.
It looks a lot like Prison Architect. What's up with that?

Blame my (Tynan's) lack of art skill - especially with characters. I made the character art you see in the trailer as a stopgap, and borrowed the Prison Architect style because I'm not a good enough artist to develop a new one. They were never intended to be final. With this Kickstarter, we'll be able to get a real artist who can sit down and develop an original style for RimWorld. I've talked with the original Prison Architect artist, Ryan Sumo, and he's fully supportive of RimWorld. We didn't share any art or code with the PA guys.
Does it still mean that the design will change, or have they decided to stick with it after all ?

It will stay like it is now. The game will be out of early access pretty soon - my guess, no more than 6 months.
Finally I'm allowed to enter Earth-sector.

I am not a fan of this genre but these pics you keep posting are driving me nuts.
I have to seriously reevaluate my gaming interest.

Good or bad, it has to be the MOST AMAZING looking space game my eyes have ever seen.

I almost want to start printing them, framing them, and start replacing the family portraits I have around the house with them.

Does the game have a cockpit view? In which you can see part of the inside of the ship?
