Elmofongo: Which resolution? And will it make everything look too big and blurry? And when I am done I have to set it back to 1080p?

(My Desktop monitor is a 1080p inch screen)
Don't change resolution, just open the window for resolution settings and keep it open while playing the game. That's it. It tends to work, most of the time.

Grargar: This has never worked for me.
Yeah, it's not 100% reliable.

And the w7ddpatcher is malicious.
The best solution is to add the appropriate registry entry to fix the problem.

For me the DirectDraw Comptability Tool as worked perfectly (you might need to run it as admin) to fix this

I downloaded so many emulator ROM for games on the SNES and even translation mods and they did not give off a warning.

I say Chrome is doing its job well.

Elmofongo: I read the thread and it looks complicated.
The link lead to . There's a nice download link to [url=http://www.mediafire.com/download/86t3awl0n35q6q4/Patch+%26+Fix+%28Win7+-+32+%26+64+bit%29.zip]this. Nothing malicious or complicated about it. Just unpack the stuff, double click the correct reg file and you're done (presuming that you're playing the right version of the game, each version requires a different fix).

Going a bit off topic:

I understand its not complicated as you say, but I am going to ask my brother when he wakes up. He is more better than at handling things like this than me. Mostly for safety reasons. I may have installed both Rainbow Six 2.0 Mod once and the Morrowind Overhaul, but I am also the guy who downloaded a program to use the PS3 controller on my PC, but got a Malware, and decided to destroy the malware by deleting the registry, but I accidently delete the registry specifically to uninstall GOG games :P (I am still suffering from that right now unless I just manually delete everything related to certain GOG games)

Hm, okay, I assure you, though, that there is nothing risky about those reg files. You can even take a look at them yourself in notepad (I did, just in case). They add exactly the one registry key you need to fix the problem each, no more, no less. I would have written them the exact same way.

It's one of the strangest fixes I encountered but it indeed usually worked for me as well.

Sometime it didn't so I just quit the game and started it again until it did.
Personally, I use this launcher here with the windowed mode plugin

No color issue and works just nice
Try this. Open notepad and type

taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
starcraft.exe
start explorer.exe

hit save as and at the bottom pick save type as all files.

name the file anything.bat

hit the save. put the new file in same location as the old starcraft exe. use that to open starcraft from now on. If you want you can go further and make a shortcut for the file you can place anywhere.

I don't know why people keep suggesting all these clunky or otherwise awkward methods while the registry fix works perfectly fine.

Because the resolution window thing is by far the easiest one to explain :-P

Besides, my suggestion is quite simply "Upgrade to Windows 8"

Some people are paranoid about registry fixes, and with good reason. But when something is endorsed by a community... Well... I tend to trust that the whole community isn't coming together to screw me. :P
