Well, for those of you interested in net neutrality developments in the EU, the European Parliament voted in early April on inscribing net neutrality into EU law.

The "Regulation laying down measures concerning the European single market for electronic communications and to achieve a Connected Continent" still has to be agreed by the Council of the EU (representing Member States) and I have no doubt that they will try to water it down, especially the centre-right governments.

So to all EU citizens, keep an eye out and let us hope that the new call of the EP will once again contain people that share our vision of a free internet.
Almost everyone I know prefers net neutrality but the business will try it again and again. The internet as we know it will die. Sad but true.

In soviet russia PC uses you!
Well, the TPP goes further. It would essentially kill Fair Use, this means that it would kill - among others - most of Youtube, all kinds of internet memes, possibly all kind of fanfiction, extended universes, etc.
It could be even so bad that you could lose your internet access for posting screenshots of games without an explicit written consent of the developers.

This is worse than it sounds. Much worse!

And Google is just going to sit down and let that happen?

Anything they are rich as fuck, since every one says the US government works with who gives them money google could lobby to take down this bill and save youtube and thier profits of it. Better yet why don't ordinary citizens lobby?
I think it is bound to be implemented, especially by our bought politicians...anything for big business. Most people in my country will just sit there and let them take away all our freedoms as long as they don't mess with their reality TV and Facebook. Those of us that are concerned by this over here are tired of being ignored and say screw it.

How is a normal citizen going to affect anything when there are lobbyists that are paid to do it with education and experience? Unless they are revolutionary, devote their entire energy and time for it I don't think it makes a difference, albeit possibly symbolic.
They are pushing very hard to get a hold of Internet it seems LOL
UK already has ridiculous controls anyway. Damn you politicians!

HypersomniacLive: The TPP secret negotiations are going on for a very long time now and it certainly is looking bad.

For anyone interested - you can take some action here.

Thanks for the links....I've added my name to the petition. It's remarkable how many people are apathetic over these threats.

You're welcome.

IMHO, not taking any action is the actual sad thing (which I suppose results from apathy). I keep a close eye on such matters and always pester our MEPs via email to steer them into doing the right thing as democratically elected representatives. Since we can't do the same in this specific case, showing support and expressing opposition is the least we can do as citizens of countries not directly involved in/ affected by the TPP.
Is it wrong that I thought this thread was going to be about Twitch Plays Pokemon? :P

edit: Okay I know how serious the situation is, but I was at first thinking that this was not going to be a serious thread. :(
