Breja: I'm really surprised the're declaring something like this so early into the new console gen life cycle. I mean, exclusives that won't actually remain exclusive - it kind of obvously sounds like something that makes owning a PS5 less "necessary".

Shadowstalker16: I imagine there must be a need for games themselves to be successful and that can be difficult when PS5s are in universal shortage. Or maybe Sony realized, like Nintendo, that they have a big subset of mindless fans who will shell out cash for anything they produce and so need not worry about them not buying something because its coming to PC.
I'd say a mix of both but way more the prior rather then the later .. Plus I bet they seen how easy it was to make bank on the pc so I can see that also likily influenced their decision

Yeah they probably saw other Japanese publishers getting big bucks by releasing on PC (like Capcom with Monster Hunter and Sega with Persona) and finally got swayed.

Maybe but I think the biggest deciding factors was why they waited so long till now to get serious was they planned to just release Horizon Zero Dawn on pc as cheapish marketing ploy for pc gamers to want a console aswell as get the Hozin ip talked about more for the upcoming one .. but they seen how much easy money it brought in on sales on pc they seen PC has a great easy way to make money..

We are closing in to a year since launch and PS5's are still a rarity, being sold out as soon as they show up in stores. No wonder Sony is announcing more titles coming to PS4 and PC. Sony would rather you buy a PS5, but with the silicon shortage they simply can't produce enough of them.
If they keep showing up on gog I don't mind their decision in the slightest. :)

The PC releases so far sold very well, Microsoft might follow suit at some point.
But then again, Microsoft has way more resources than Sony and might not need to sell their exclusives...not that there are any noteworthy. :P

I'd like to see more third party Nintendo exclusives like Bayonetta 2 get ported to different systems, but that's a tall order.

I believe this is it. Sony said new IPs are extremely costly compared to sequels, so this is a way to increase revenue to offset business risk of being bound to one platform, along with their production supply not meeting market demand.

Good. This way, console peasants can be useful to betatest the games before a proper PC release :-P
Bloodborne and Demon's Souls please.

And perhaps Shadow of the Colossus and God of War 4.

While thats possible I honestly doubt the claim made in that article as if this was in fact true they'd not been denying varies games like Horizan Zero Dawn and Days Gone would be coming tp pc then show up later on.. I just am saying its to me suspect that claim happened and was shown in a article last year when able to get a ps5 would be clear at that point and the only games I am aware of that was Sony exclusive truly made by them more or less was Horizon and Days gone.. games they claimed prior would not be coming to pc at all.. Yet now they had.. Granted I don't mind the games coming to pc as it means more people can play them plus I am not buying consoles for gaming ..

Regardless this reminds me.. anyone remember on a E3 thing once I think it was last years or the year prior some people notice God of war and something else had said Sony exclusive but also mentioned on the trailer thing coming to pc and after that was noticed .. with some really diehard Playstation fans mad about it Sony/playstation.. Stated that was human error and that those was indeed exclusive to just being on console and not coming to pc? I doubt that was true on them claiming that after all we seen other games claimed to bethe same show up on pc and other claims broken.. plus well this current move and even the article you linked to allow games on pc goes again all the talk of of that prior on new ips Sony/playstation did even one ones that was costly.. So I doubt the validy of Sony/PlayStation personal pivoting to a different claim at this time thats directly opposite what they claimed prior among other factors related to the matter

Swedrami: To keep the momentum Sony should look into re-releasing Psygnosis' back catalogue of PC and ported-to-PC titles. Just hand it all over to GoG and let them take care of the technical side of things with ensuring compatibility/getting them to run on modern OS's and such.
That would absolutely be nice, but tough chances of it happening when Sony seemed like it considered the word PC as a swear word until recently. They probably give absolutely zero damns about old games they've been sitting on for decades. Probably not even aware they own them TBH. And good luck trying to contact a specific branch (Sony Interactive Entertainment) of a mega corporation focused mainly on consoles, about putting any amount of effort into releasing decades old PC games.

I'd love to see Drakan, Overboard, Lemmings and all other Psygnosis stuff here as much as everyone else. But I'm afraid they are to remain abandonware forever.

BanditKeith2: I don't think they do .. At least from what I am aware as been trying to find such.. yet never seen any sense the ps3 era I think
Then this offers me nothing but I do hope others on the computer find that they are looking for in their selection.

Ya I honestly miss split screen and couch multiplayer and couch co-op gaming.. honestly about the only thing I think that would get me to buy a console is if they started doing that again regularly on any console but thats not really a thing anymore as online multiplayer and online co-op had taken over..

Anyway not many playstation exclusives of the modern era interests me.. most from the older gens namely from the ps3 , ps2 and ps1 are the ones that interest me though the psp and psvita interest me too on the few exclusives they have.. So hope those get pc ports sometime

You would love my HTPCs - a bunch of 2 to 8 player co-op, split-screen and VS games for family and friends to just pick up gamepads and go at it.

Currently everyone seems to love SHING!, Mother Russia Bleeds, SOR4 and Blazing Chrome. Waiting for TMNT: Shredder's Revenge

My copy of Crimsonland has over 3k hours on it from everyone using that one.

I also have my eye on Death Carnival.

Like Disney with its old IPs (LucasArts and the animated films games)?

I know what you mean. And as a guy who's worked in a big corporation I admit that sometimes it can be very hard to get things done. But most times it's just a matter of reaching the "right guy". And once that guy is reached everything starts to move swiftly.

I know, I was just throwing it out there, once again.
In case that GoG have not yet reached out and tried to convince Sony to let them "remaster" and re-release the Psygnosis back catalogue. Surely GoG would have a better chance of actually getting through to somebody at Sony than us lowly plebs.
