It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

TanguyLOZ: I'm maybe wrong but fromwhat I've understood so far, users of 7,8,8.1 can try it the first year of its release and will have to pay it if they want to keep using it.

Don't raise our hopes too high.
that sounds more like ms !

personally i dont really care i plan to adopt a wait and see approach
I wouldnt be so excited about this because, like usual, the devil is in the details:

It seems that W10 wont be a "product" anymore but a "service" and it'll be free indeed but only "FOR THE FIRST YEAR".
That means we'll rent/pay for windows on a yearly basis.
And thats not good in my book.

Or maybe i got it wrong ...

Actually from what I understood the first year you can upgrade for free, after the first year it will cost you. If I remember well, Windows 8 had something similar, with a promotional price of 30 euros the first months or so. But Windows 8 didn't had DirectX12...
If I was a Windows 8 user than I think I would upgrade, but as a Windows 7 user I'm more likely to go back to Linux than go to 10.

I might try 10 on my netbook depending on its hardware requirement.

Hardware-based security makes me wary. Also, the one-year upgrade limit is annoying as I like to wait out at least the first service pack (or equivalent) before upgrading. Then again, this is, essentially Win 8.2, so... I'll still wait on a few reviews.

Also, Microsoft's stream player is laughably bad. Classic.

tinyE: Hello, my question as well. Did they change the laws of arithmetic while I was away? What, does 9 come after 45 now and no one told me?

snowkatt: to distance themselves from windows 8 ( 9 is too close to 8 whiel 10 is 2 leaps forwards )

and because of a lot a of old software looks for the 9x string and ssumes its windows 95-98
and a lot of developers still use that apparently
mostly to check what version of windows the software is being run on
Thanks. Way to fuck up a perfectly good joke. :P
Really,Win 10 for Win7 users?
Gotta see what's new on the OS and check reviews before I make the decision. I don't want Vista all over again.
I'm satisfied with Win7 i don't need a new OS .
Sexy hologram girls for 5k EUR a piece.

I hope not.. otherwise that would mean farewell to Windows for me.

Anyway, I wish that MS could simply adopt 1 licence per user\family, instead of locking it to hardware.

EDIT: also, I'd like an ISO for custom installations, damn.

Ric1987: So what happened to Win 9 anyway?
They decided to skip it, I read from somewhere it's because people may get confused with Windows 9x (95/98)
I hope Joey Bada$$ becomes a meme XD
No No No,you heard it here:-)

Windows releases have been rock-solid on day one starting with Windows 7. I doubt Windows 10 will be any different.

Service packs are over. Windows 10 will have semi-regular refreshes like Windows 8.1.

If installing Windows 10 works like Windows 8/8.1 you'll be able to download an ISO with the official downloader.
No, because I want Windows 9! :D
