Try and open any of his topics: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Asteamcommunity.com+kijib+app&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Granted, most of his posts are complaints, but he's not making death threats.

People thought I was nuts for not wanting to put all of PC gaming's eggs into one (Steam's) basket. But this is what happens when you have "everything under one roof." Now, how much resistance can you provide if you have thousands of dollars tied up in the service and because of that, most games are now requiring it?

The worst part is Valve is allowing you to include other author's work if it's free- so essentially now you can profit off of somebody else's work. And I really doubt Valve has the manpower to track down and verify any broken license agreements- at least when it was free for users, you might have broken the license, but there was no revenue to create a legal liability.

Unfortunately, I still see PC gamers on other sites defending Valve, so expect things to get worse before they get better.

Valve does take a rather dim view of anyone trying to profit off other people's intellectual property: http://www.pcgamer.com/counter-strike-global-offensive-weapon-skin-removed-after-dmca-takedown-notice/

Bingo! Give the man a prize!

Sadly I also know too many PC gamers who believe Steam *is* PC gaming. So I agree, Valve would have to do much much worse before a significant portion of their users leave.
i was on the forums at the time your friend made the topic , and it was pretty low and insulting , no doubt he got ban hammered, there are better ways to expression your thoughts than calling names and swearing.

Ask you friend to post the same topic here gog and with the same words he said and let gog member judge if it was ban worthy.

he can raise a support ticket for. they dont ban the account for forum issues.

A lot of devs even think this. All the "Releasing on Steam!' as opposed to "Releasing on Windows!" or even PC.

Perhaps it was ban-worthy, I dunno. But how could it be worthy of having all of the unrelated topics he'd created prior to the ban being deleted?

Oh, I find it credible that Steam would temporarily ban for griping alone. I was just wondering about particulars. Steam seems rather crazy.

Saberwolf_Prime: Reminds me of the time I had a big argument with someone on the Amazon forums about DRM, and he argued that Valve being a monopoly is good for PC gaming.

Nothing new, unfortunately the majority of consumers and developers have a really twisted common sense these days .. and this is saying it very politely ;)
Wow, looking at that workshop discussion forum, he must have made a really harsh post, because most of the people there are PISSED

FTFY.

kalirion: Apparently he wasn't fond of the paid workshop stuff, and commented on it. In response they issued him a 1 week community ban and deleted almost his entire posting history. Most posts he made - gone. Any topics he started - gone, along with all the replies.

How fucked up is that?
This is crazy. No decent company should behave like this. This is basically extremely bad customer treatment on the verge of discrimination. If you disclose the name of the friend we should all launch a formal protest at Valve. This is really sub-standard behavior, even if for some reason they have the right to do it.

edit: If however your friend kind of wrote only contributions that are delete-worthy, then I take everything back I just said. Then Valve's actings might actually be very reasonable.

So it all depends on the posts. Sorry for calling Valve out prematurely.

im going to play a bit of a devil advocate here, but:

1. neither of us here has seen what your friend wrote, what kind of words he used or if he actually broke any rules by whatever statements. while im not saying he did something bad, you're just presenting very sparse and one sided story without any proofs and ask people here to agree that this is "fucked up".

2. to people joining censorship bandwagon - just keep in mind that posting on private company forums is not some constitutional right but a privilege / feature that valve grants you under specific conditions and which can be taken away if they chose so. all people posting there agreed to this by accepting their terms.
I read some of his posts, and in all of them seemed like typed by a raging kid. No wonder his comments were deleted and he got a forum ban.

There is some pretty harsh stuff being said on the steam forums and some of it is being directed at mod authors. You can state your viewpoint without getting personal and demeaning.
