and I have many questions:

1.this series obviously has extra-canoncal stuff like books and comic books does the main games make references or they are not important to the plot?

2.I am playing as a goody, goody paragon/spacer/war hero/soldier any recommendations in mass effect 1 on how to make the best soldier

3.Best party for Mass effect 1 who do you recommend

EDIT in 2015:

I bump this thread asking for help on the bad textures for Mass Effect 1 on PC:

1) There is one guy in the third game who shows up in the comics first, ttbomk, but said comic is not necessary to his appearance in the game.

2) I played Adept since the achievements require doing biotic stuff.

3) Best party depends upon your build. If playing as a soldier, you'll want a biotic person and a tech person, so probably Liara and Tali. You need to complement your own build to cover all the bases.

as someone who played the whole series more than once all i can say is dont ask everything and get them to know beforehand i.e spoilers , the joy comes in this series when you make your own choices :D screw up or for the good hehe

also on the party , since you will be a overkill yourself ,dealing max dmg , its best if you took along your love interest and a funny char along , to enjoy the game more

ps: avoid reading spoilers
pps: if you are reading this STOP and play the game already

look I already know the most basic things so I am not that spoiled

also I'm gonna be traditional and love ashley and in 2 miranda and from what I heard cheating does not really "penelizes" you in the 3rd game so I don't know
The combat in 1 & 2 (the ones I've played) was really boring to me. Putting the game on easy helped a lot, since enemies die faster -> less time in fights -> you get less bored. :p

The combat isn't even what the game's about, so if you're a member of the Combat Bored, just easy it up without any shame.

Nope. You have to chose at one point. You could, in theory, romance a separate one in each game. Or you could chose Liara and go through all 3 with her (what I did with my FemShep).

But if you're playing a dude, you might want to go the Talimancer route in 2 and 3. Or if you are staying strictly human, Kelly Chamber is an option in 2 and continued in 3 (only if you took her in 2) as well as Diana Allers in 3.

Soldier type is easy, take it easy, use cover, bring along someone like Liara that can throw up a shield if need be. Make friends with everyone, I liked making friends with the Krogan, I recommend you do as well, Mr. Goody-two-shoes.

Decisions, decisions fuck and kelly chambers is weird she does a weird stripper dance in the romance in 2 and diana allers barely does anything in the romance except a little kiss

mabye in the next playthrough i will go alien
1) Not important.
2) Just shoot shit and make sure you get the paralyzing abilities (I think that is right). Also, use 'elemental' rounds.
3) The Krogan and tall, slender alien dude. Idk been awhile.

Garrus. Well, Wrex and Garrus respectively.

Just remember: Mac Walters is a great character writer, but a story writer he is not and they have a "ninja" who is a cereal killer (I hate that joke from the bioware forums)
