Asbeau: Good news! According to Cleve's latest announcement, Grimoire will be 'DRM protected' from next week onwards.
I'd like to suggest him a code wheel for $100 / copy / computer / steam account .

groze: Considering I don't even know what you're talking about when you mention that "certain forum dedicated to rpgs", it's safe to say I'm not a member of it...
I was talking about rpgcodex.

dtgreene: Is it, by any chance, the one that has "brofist"-ing?
Yes, that's the one.

Gurlok: Way to lose more sales!

Honestly, I hope I will never end up with a game which gets a new drm through an update.
avatar
GR00T: I think it's hilarious that he actually thinks DRM will stop the pirates.
Yeah, not only it will not work, but it will even backfire by both customers against ADDED drm, people who wanted the game to be sold here, and pirates who want to take the challenge on and pirate remove any drm/triggers added by him.

This. Fixing the game will bring him good sales.

groze: Cleve probably never even considered releasing Grimoire on GOG, for a multitude of reasons.
But he did. He is planning to release Grimoire on GOG when the bugs are fixed (I guess that he doesn't want to trouble himself with updating the game on many platforms simultaneously).

He did? Was he interested in bringing the game here? But by adding drm/triggers would make that task impossible...

Got a link to where he's said that recently? All I've seen him say in the last few months is that there's no serious competitor to Steam and that he's adding DRM to the game.

I went through Cleve's Steam posts and the Steam general discussions and couldn't find that quote. Are you AlienBaboso or smok3 on Steam? Can you link the post where Cleve said that as Asbeau asked?

In fact it's still (at least) in his greenlight page. Maybe it was mentioned as well in other topics in game page, but plenty of threads was removed by Cleve himself.
Here is screen of post where he's talking about GoG. I wish to Grimoire be here.

Thanks for that screen capture and greenlight clue truhlik. I went back to GOLDEN ERA GAMES's post history but his comment isn't reflected there. Very strange.

Anyway, the page link to where Clive said "it is likely" to come to GOG is at https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/comments/893772412 dated 31 May @ 2:22pm

Grimoire is going to need to get a lot more stable and well out of the "Mixed" review category before that is likely to happen. There were several other Kickstarter projects that promised GOG releases, but GOG passed on them given their mixed response on Steam. We'll also see how that goes with his new promised DRM method, as if that proceeds like most it will likely impact the legit owners far more than others.

Nice. He mentioned it many times, but when I tried googling "Grimoire GOG release" it points to this thread.

I don't really consider mixed rating bad for steam reviews. There's too many idiots and agendas.

Depends on the vote count, but in the low ranges I tend to agree. The agendas in review are pretty obvious on both sides and despite what the fanboys say, beyond the ten or so at launch most of the negative reviews have valid complaints. Biggest hit came during the savegame-corrupt-a-thon patch period and the argument they haven't played long enough falls flat due to Steam's refund policy of 2 weeks or 2hrs (e.g. play too long... NO SOUP for you!)

Stability is another matter though, ole Barkmore pushes one to two minor to major hot fixes a day, even 4chan / scene posters are too tired to waste the effort... best DRM evar!

I was talking in general about steam reviews. Too many, < 1 hour reviews with greatest ever or it sucks. Then it's clear some people have no idea of what game he/she purchased.

From what I have seen in gameplay videos and the changelog, Grimoire should be negative. It's just that many are desperate people (myself included) for a good throwback to Wiz 7. So even a mediocre offering does better than it should. What I have seen of the game is bad animations, poor hi-res support (aka anything over 1024x768 lol), bad sound. The magic missle sounds like a star trek photon torpedo. Then the dev repeatedly breaks the game. Then toss in the sycophants that berate any criticism of the game even saves being broken and deleted, and the occasional wtf? post from the dev, that it is praised as being transparent or honest.

This game release is as fun as watching a MMORPG release from the late 90s or early 00s.
