NoNewTaleToTell: I don't think I've ever been to Blip but the name sounds ALMOST familiar.

Hasn't Dailymotion already been established as the #2 to Youtube for a long while? They're a veryyyyyyyyy distant second as it is, Youtube already has the complete market in the palm of its hand.
Somehow, I think youku is probably ahread of Daily Motion. There's 1.4 bn Chinese that don't have Youtube as an option that use youku.

johnnygoging: That name was pretty foreshadowing.

Laa hah hah.
I don't always get along with johnny, but how is this post not high rated?

That's funny! XD

Because it made me think what "you tube" and "daily motion" may be foreshadowing.

cogadh: What's Blip?
When I glanced over the OP's message, I first thought he is some character in the game Monopoly (probably that rich guy with a cigar and hat, or maybe the dog?), and this thread being something about a game character "dying". Like "Oh no, Aeris died!" (from Final Fantasy 7)

It is sad to see Blip die, I was a HUGE fan of TGWTG back in 2009 and it got me interested in Blip, at the time it seemed like paradise for an non-YouTube video site. It seemed great, not to mention when YouTube started to fudge up their player when adding HD support and the like Blip was clean and nice so it WAS a better alternative. Then YouTube became bigger than ever and even adding features that outshined Blip such as HTML5 support and 60 FPS. Blip just couldn't keep up and again, it is a shame but at the same time YouTube has grown in such a way that even if it is a corporate giant, it has improved a lot since it did things that upset a lot of users so Blip isn't an insanely sad loss, but still sad regardless for its place in internet video history.

SF Debris announcement
And here is the announcement from Channel Awesome. Though honestly, Channel Awesome could go down together with Blip as far as I care. Nostalgia Critic's stuff has been pretty bad and on a downward slide ever since his forced comeback, the new guys they brought in recently are pretty much uniformly terrible, and everyone else either left altogether, or has their own site.

An here is a more in depth announcement from MMO Grinder, well detailing why Blip went down, and why being stuck with YouTube is the result, but also how it sucks, and sucks hard.
