Klumpen0815: It's the same hardware as the NES mini:
It's not really surprising, you don't really need a powerhouse to run a SNES emulator so it's not like they needed to "buff" the existing NES-mini hardware, I wouldn't be surprises that if the rumored N64-mini turns out to be true it end up using the same hardware as well.

Crosmando: from what I've read it's actually more of a proper hardware approach to running the games rather than just an "emulator in a box".
A well done emulator in a box it may be, but as far as I know it's definitely an emulator in a box.
Probably will buy later on. It seems like since they're bringing back NES mini next year and continuing to sell SNES mini through 2018 at least, that they finally got their heads out of the sand and realized these things print money. Shouldn't be too hard to find both early next year.

I would absolutely love one, and this time it'll be sold here, officially. For only $300! Yay...
Can't care less.

With all the damn emulators there are around...

HW or Emulator doesn't matter, if they don't plan to develop new games (that I don't think will happen).

Yeah, but I can't play an Emulator on my big screen TV! :P I mean, I'm sure I could figure out a way too, but that would be way too much work for someone like myself who is down to his last three brain cells.

Ok, in that case, I'm sorry.

KingofGnG: Well, actually it's more of a "hardware emulation" approach with a faithful recreation of the original SNES chips' logic. It does in hardware what emulators do in software,
Source?

The NES Classic was just an ARM system on a chip, somewhat similar to what the Raspberry Pi is based on. It was just running a normal software emulator.
I would be VERY surprised if the SNES Classic was much different. Perhaps a more powerful SOC, but still a software emulator nonetheless.

Ah, so KingofGnG was indeed BSing.

Picked mine up today from Best Buy. Long as lines but I managed to snag one.

You do get the previously unreleased non-prototype Starfox 2 with the console. It's now been ripped for emulators but it's still a bonus you can't get anywhere else legally.
I preordered a unit from the second batch (should arrive in a month), even though the library is too tiny in my opinion ... but I finally wanted to play Super Mario RPG & Secret of Mana anyway, so it just made sense to get one.

Also it comes with two official controllers which will be usable on a PC with an adapter.
I've preordered mine in June at a local Gamestop and got it today.
My brother picked one up (not sure if he pre-ordered or not). He sent me a text that he was playing FFIII (FFVI) already.
They're starting at $162.00 on Amazon. :P

They did the same bonehead thing they did with the NES. Amazon doesn't allow pre-orders and everyone they have gets picked up scalpers who will now sell them for double and triple the price.

There's also 30+ pages of scalper sales on ebay. Lowest last time I checked was $158

Yeah. I sent my dad a photo from the official website telling him to ONLY pay that much ($79.99) plus tax. I was thinking of getting in line at Best Buy but I'd have been dropped off before 6, outside for 4 hours with just a phone, and picked up after 10. Not my idea of a good time. Based on comments I got, chances of a ticket were gonna be slim, too (and there's 2 Gamestops within 10 min of each other and a target less than 2 minutes further down the highway). I just hope there'll be more in stock for Christmas/after Christmas and it's hackable the the NES classic (should be)
