Anyone here thinking of buying this when it's released at the end of the month? I missed the original NES classic mini that was released last year I think. Seems like decent value for all the games that come in-built with it, and from what I've read it's actually more of a proper hardware approach to running the games rather than just an "emulator in a box".

It depends if they actually exist this time.
oh fuck nintendo

I gave them virtually my entire childhood and they treat their fans, and myself, the way they do. While I heard they are going to re-release the miniNES next year, that doesn't make up for the way they handled the initial release, and that's only one of a million bullshit things they have done.

Hey Mario, you like plumbing, then suck a fart out of my ass.

Well, actually it's more of a "hardware emulation" approach with a faithful recreation of the original SNES chips' logic. It does in hardware what emulators do in software, and it's a fucking rip off for someone like me that was never interested in all this Nintendo mania to begin with.
Here the distributor raised the price so it's stupidly expensive... again. :(

Well I was never a Nintendo fan even back in the day, my parents got me the Sega Master System/Mega Drive instead of the S/NES. After that I got the PS1, so I've never owned a Nintendo console. I just think it seems worthwhile as it would be close to the original experience of playing a SNES, rather than emulating on a PC which is fine but it's different.

Depends on whether or not the pre-orders (Best Buy and Amazon UK) I have goes through. I somehow lucked out on getting a NES Classic, but I'm not so sure with this thing.

Why?
It's £70 - £80 for twenty games. That's cheaper per game than most of the old games here.
Sure, if you're not interested in the games it's not interesting, but it's in no way a rip off.

And objectively the games are very highly rated so it's not like their just cult classics.
I have a pre-order at the local EB store, so if all goes well I will have one later this week or early next week. I decided to get one because it's a console generation I completely missed, as I was totally into building PC's by that time. So it's a nice convenient way of having a good selection of games in an easy and convenient (just plug it into the hdmi switcher) solution.

As for price, well it depends. You can play the games you want and then probably easily sell it for a decent price if you wanted to do that. Compared to downloading ROM's illegally and then emulating, it's expensive. Compared to buying the games legally on Wii/WiiU Virtual Console, it's cheaper to buy the Classic and it does a better job.
If I can find one I'll pick it up. It's a whole bunch of really excellent games I remember playing back in the day. Looking forward to it.
That era of gaming was never my favorite, I like tough games, but not that tough.
A lot of negativity in this thread, but I get that.
I've been saving up my tips from work though, and I for one am really excited for it. I'm going to try to get it asap, and I really really hope that there is enough shipped this time. Scalpers ruined the NES classic.
Got curious, thought maybe I was being unfair, so I looked into it, and my interest was peaked....until.

$80 for 21 games, many of which were mediocre when they came out?

Yeah....I don't think so. :P
I want one, but bills got in the way. Will see if there's still any in stock when I get paid on the 5th of October (Not holding my breath)
It's the same hardware as the NES mini:
