jdsgn: This is one of the reasons I came here I'm so fed up with video game developer greed. It even happens that so called DLCs are actually already included and you just pay to unlock them.

A shining example of how DLCs are done right is Bethesda Softworks. They really put a lot of effort into creating new content and it's almost always well worth the money.

Horse armor?
I didn't trust Soccorro until I see that !
Seriously, where is the OFP era when the add-ons were full of contents for the same price and updated to the latest version (Ah, the Resistance campaign) ?

justanoldgamer: One more publisher I won't be buying from. I don't play online games but they can also pull that kind of stunt on single player games.

*Hey neat, a rocket launcher!
<<ROCKET LAUNCHER ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE GOOD WEAPONS DLC>>
Ammunition sold separately, and only to players who can provide an in-game purchased weapons license...

Oh shit, did I type that out loud. I hope no one who makes DLC is reading this and getting ideas!

And i thought those high prices for league of legends (never played it) skins were ridiculous! I mean all they add is a new look to your character!

Cosmetic changes are considered generally safe and not issues, as they don't tip the player's power or abilities to a pay-to-win scenario.

Yay my character looks like a cheerleader now!... Woot...

In fairness I think LOL is free to play so people pay if they enjoy the game. They don't buy the game for €60, find out they don't have a complete game and then have to shell out more. :/

But all the money, some people agree to pay for a skin...it's crazy! One of my friends spent around 120,00 - 150,00 (he said its somewhere around that, since he lost track)...

It didn't. You did have a questgiver in your main camp though. Try to accept the quest and the game 'kindly" reminds you to buy the dlc.

Didn't know that one.
I was actually thinking of Dawnguard, Shivering Isles, ...
I must be the only one not having any issues with this. Considering that ARMA 3 came out on the 12th of September 2013, and that this DLC came out on the 4th of November 2014 (a year and some months since the original game launch) I'd say that it's a bit of bad-form to say that you paid $60 for an incomplete game.

You want the new helicopters (remember, there are other models which can be piloted for free in the base game) and consider that the price is fair? Sure, go ahead. Otherwise, not sure what the big deal is.

Like many Free-To-Play games which should be relabeled since if you do too well for free you often get screwed. But with the built in microtransactions it's much like gambling where you only see the $5 you put down and never the added up $60 before that point so you never know how much you lost/spent. Worse is some kids are being brought up with the Free-To-Play and use an allowance so they never realize how much they could be spending on something useful like sandwiches or a pair of shoes, or an actual gift for a friend in the form of catfood or something.

But with LOL, spending money on something you like/love is one thing as long as you don't lose yourself. I've donated and spent money through kickstarter on projects i hope get along great, while i've not actually bought the product yet (like Mighty No. 9, and Enchanted Cave 2). I don't consider those lost funds, not like the $800 i lost gambling one night... that was a secondary harsh lesson, the first one was $15 back when i was 6...

stg83: That is just unbelievably absurd but unfortunately this is where all modern games are headed, the latest Assassins Creed also has a lot of in game stuff locked behind a pay wall which in previous games was accessible via in-game currency. I guess in a few years the option to save your game will be sold as separate DLC as well judging by how things are going.
avatar
chevkoch: Haha, yeah - saving function as DLC, after this one it sure wouldn't be a surprise.
Nah, not as DLC. For something that you do over, and over, and over again, microtransaction is more likely.

"For the low price of 0.99 Euros, get 10 save tokens. Those tokens let you save ANYWHERE once. Don't miss that revolutionary feature"
The DLC will be for the autosave ^^
