In a quite surprising move, the developers of Pixel Piracy have given their game a sudden and massive update!

Here is a video that is made by the lovely Paul Soares JR, going over most of the features of the update.

Does this mean the GOG staff will go and erase the reviews saying it was abandoned/dead?

That depends on when the patch hits gog and that could take quite some time.

I played the old version on Steam...it was a very poor game. I'd rather not mess with it again even with the new patch.

That sounds worse than the burn I got from Windforge.

Great to see this issue popping up here.
This has to be the most awesome statement in the modern history of pirate games, aaaarrrrrrr :D

Nah. At best, they will add a note on each such review, mentioning that the game has been fixed since then or something like that.

Hmm, that won't fix the tanked ratings...
The game already got the Enhanced Edition patch one week after it came on Steam in February and got a couple of patches in April. Probably a week before the mentioned patch arrives to gog. Pixel Piracy has been more or less regularly updated on gog.
heh, that Windforge. Oi vey.
Interestingly enough, the game now has a new release date on Steam (23 April 2015).

It's a new release with a new co-dev and publisher Re-Logic (devs of Terraria).

You know what? I'm gonna play this tomorrow, i bought it back then in the early acess since i saw a video of someone playing and it looked interesting but it was full of glitches (ropes hanging in the air, boats exploding, etc) and when i went back to the game a few months later it was all changed, i had to relearn a harder game which turn me off.

Oh, I knew what it meant, I just wanted elaboration, especially seeing as I had posted a review recently on Windforge and ran out of characters.
heh

Elaboration: what a mess

I was overcome with genuine fremdscham while clamoring through the somber wreckage that is Windforge
