Today, we bid farewell to the legendary post-apocalyptic 2D classics.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we needed to pull the three classic Fallout games, that is Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics, from sale and remove them from our DRM-free catalog. These classic titles have been with us since day one, that is for over 5 years now, and they were always one of the highlights of the selection of games that we offer. There are very few titles in the history of computer role-playing games, that have had so much impact on the gaming landscape, players' expectations, and even the popular culture. The iconic setting, the memorable quotes, and unparalleled amount of fun and challenge these games provide--it's all burned in the memory of a whole generation of gamers. Probably even more than just one generation. It was an honor to have you here, Fallout. Take good care of yourself out there, try not to mistake a gecko for G.E.C.K. (not even remotely the same thing!), and remember to take your Rad-X pills!

All those who acquired Fallout, Fallout 2, or Fallout Tactics on GOG.com prior to the date of removal (that is before Tuesday, December 31st 2013, at 3:59PM GMT), will still be able to download the games' install files (as well as the bonus content) via the "My Games" section of their user accounts. Gift-codes for these three games acquired in our recent giveaway are no longer valid. However, if you own a gift-code for any or all of them that was purchased outside of the said giveaway, you'll still be able to redeem it in the foreseeable future.

We sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience this situation may have caused you. We invite you to browse through 671 other fantastic titles offered in our DRM-free catalog of the best games in history, and we wish you a Happy New Year of gaming!

zaine-h: Quick question. Where do I find that picture of the skeleton in the vault outfit?
Getting yourself killed in Fallout 2 ought to do the trick.

Ah. Haven't played Fallout 2 yet. Explains why I didn't recognize it. Thanks!
Never mind..

JasmineMoldovia: Will we ever know why these 3 had to be removed?
Maybe, maybe not. You never know before when it will happen.

Thekels: Just to confirm - as long as we've already bought the game, we can still download them and install them forever, right? I don't have to get in a panic and download them, save to an external HDD, and back them up to a cloud since they'll never be able to be re-downloaded, right?
No, absolutely not. Although backing up games in a non panicing way is also not strictly forbidden.

LiquidOxygen80: It's been stated numerous times what GOG's conditions generally are. IE: Let us sell this old property for you, DRM free, and not only will we be on the hook for selling, marketing and maintaining it, but we'll make sure the proper abandonware sites lead here for legitimate purchasing, AND offer a money back guarantee AND handle the tech support needed.

From a business sense to ME, it'd seem like a no-brainer unless said company plans its own revival, and even in the event of something like that happening, I'd still see no reason to not release old versions in order to drum up support and publicity for whatever new game you have coming out.

Some people are just slow to convince, or maybe never will be, which is unfortunate for both us and GOG.

synfresh: They do have old versions for release, just not on here. Perhaps they feel that the millions upon millions of people on Steam is enough audience for them. Again, there is no loyalty here. Bethesda has no loyalty to GoG, DoTEmu, or any other distributor. It's not any different from say Lucasarts, they can choose which games can be sold from which distributor. Just because they were here before doesn't mean they are obligated to keep them here, again I ask, what loyalty does Beth/Zenimax have to GoG? They've never had a business relationship with them before.
Right, and I'm not even touching on things like exclusivity, although I'm sure it'd be icing on the cake for GOG. If I were running a company with a large backlog of IPs that aren't working for me, I'd make sure I figured out an avenue to ensure that they do, and as such, a place like GOG or DotEmu, or Desura, etc, would give me a way to gauge interest IN those IPs, then let that be what determines whether or not I continue releasing classic IPs to those distribution channels, Steam included. Having IPs sit around may not cost me anything, but they're also not making me anything either. Therefore, if I can gauge enough interest in making them available and putting them to work for me and the company, that's what I'll do, for as many distribution channels as possible. All I'm saying.

Scatterblak: Who cares? You guys took my money, then worked hard to make the game not even run under Win 7.64. Thanks for nothing, and enjoy the oblivion that's waiting for you and your company. Cutting some deadwood won't save you if you screw your customers - it only staves off the inevitable.

Took your money? But your registration date is on January 2014, so you obviously couldn't have bought the game from GOG, as GOG wasn't selling the Fallout games anymore in January 2014.

Meaning, you are just some stupid troll lying through his teeth. Probably one member of the local Steam goon squad with a second temporary account, too scared to troll with his original account.

Oh yeah, and GOG Fallout runs great for me in Windows 7/64bit. I've read from Steam forums that the Steam versions have more problems though in Windows 7, apparently they don't contain all the same compatibility fixes as the GOG version.

I too would be very interested to know when "these guys" took your money...

For some reason, trolls using hashtags just makes me feel old.

Very well said.
Well, Zenimax owes an apology to GOG community. No worries, we're humble people. Bring Elder Scrolls and Quake here then we all OK :)

Hope you guys can convince Bethesda of your service's value. It'll probably be a while, but hopefully the guys at Bethesda aren't as pig-headed as some are making them out to be.

And if Bethesda IS that pig-headed, I wish them luck trying to keep this off the abandon-ware circuit.
Very sad to see this happen.

If we can find out who is responsible, the only thing we can do is not buy their games, until they release them on GoG of course. It maybe also worth posting on the other forums to let them know we are not happy with this decision.
