Today, we bid farewell to the legendary post-apocalyptic 2D classics.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we needed to pull the three classic Fallout games, that is Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics, from sale and remove them from our DRM-free catalog. These classic titles have been with us since day one, that is for over 5 years now, and they were always one of the highlights of the selection of games that we offer. There are very few titles in the history of computer role-playing games, that have had so much impact on the gaming landscape, players' expectations, and even the popular culture. The iconic setting, the memorable quotes, and unparalleled amount of fun and challenge these games provide--it's all burned in the memory of a whole generation of gamers. Probably even more than just one generation. It was an honor to have you here, Fallout. Take good care of yourself out there, try not to mistake a gecko for G.E.C.K. (not even remotely the same thing!), and remember to take your Rad-X pills!

All those who acquired Fallout, Fallout 2, or Fallout Tactics on GOG.com prior to the date of removal (that is before Tuesday, December 31st 2013, at 3:59PM GMT), will still be able to download the games' install files (as well as the bonus content) via the "My Games" section of their user accounts. Gift-codes for these three games acquired in our recent giveaway are no longer valid. However, if you own a gift-code for any or all of them that was purchased outside of the said giveaway, you'll still be able to redeem it in the foreseeable future.

We sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience this situation may have caused you. We invite you to browse through 671 other fantastic titles offered in our DRM-free catalog of the best games in history, and we wish you a Happy New Year of gaming!
This is hard for me to digest and certainly very aggravating. I am not pissed with GOG since this is beyond their control but Zenimax. These are such amazing classics and it would hurt their goodwill to a great degree not having them here.
I think this is just unreasonable.
Its a sad day indeed, Lets celebrate it with playing all the fallout games. My goal for 2014... to beat all three classics and New Vegas, the true Fallout 3.
today tough, I'll have a drink while recalling all the great times I had with those games so many years ago,

We've lost good games today. It pains me to know that these classics are no longer gonna be purchaseable in a DRM-free environment. I hope Bethesda realizes the big mistake of this.

Thunderstone: DAMNIT!! I was going to use those codes for a giveaway and prizes for my guild, a little warning would have been nice on those codes becoming invalid.
I sent codes to a couple of friends, but I know they tend to procrastinate. If I had some warnings about the codes expiring, I would have pushed them to use them quicker.
Thank you GOG for gifting this collection just before the removal.
Hopefully when there is a 0% chance of there being a conflict between Bethesda & Interplay with what happens to the original games, they'll finally be completely free to release the source code for Tactics.

Microforte still has it, and as soon as they have permission, they'll release it. Interplay wouldn't release it because they said it was Beth's call, and Beth said that Interplay has the rights to the original games (paraphrasing, of course.)

Blah, blah, blah.

Hopefully that game will finally get fixed. (lore-wise)

Unfortunate to see them go and they'll be missed on GOG.

Relnac: You know, with Bethesda giving away Arena and Daggerfall for free on their website, it seems like they don't have a problem with the idea of GOG. Let's hope they are just working out a new contract to continue selling them here, and can eventually add Morrowind! (I'd love to have a digital version of this game, but the steam one can mess with some of the graphic mods.)
Bethesda offering Fallout 1 &2 on their site as freebies would not surprise me in the least.
WTF? Who can I blame for this ridiculous descision?
If the codes from the giveaway are no longer valid, could somebody at GOG please remove the three unredeemed ones I have from the gifts list in my account (or at least somehow mark them as invalid), so I don't get confused into thinking they're good later.

At least I was able to get the games before they were removed this time...

Interplay.

Interplay made a contract with Bethesda about Fallout, which (long story short) ends with the Fallout rights going to Bethesda from January 1st 2014. Since Interplay no longer has the rights to Fallout, GOG's contract with Interplay no longer allows them to sell Fallout.
GOG is currently trying to sign Bethesda, and when they do sign them, Fallout should return to GOG under a new publisher. If Bethesda comes to GOG but Fallout doesn't return, you can start blaming Bethesda.
