Greetings, Hunters!

Victor Vran, an action filled next step in aRPG design, is available now for Windows and Mac - complete with GOG Galaxy Achievements, DRM-free, and 10% off for the first week!

In a genre that's seen immense highs and extended lows, it seems that we're always waiting for the secret formula for the perfect action RPG. Some say it's all about an overwhelming amount of loot, upgrades and treats galore. Others choose to experiment with new and innovative ways to connect their players, or to give them new types of control over making their character one of a kind. Victor Vran brings its own answers to the table.

It's a game that places movement and action first, truly putting the "action" in the aRPG, eliminating the boundaries of a traditional class system, and opting for freeform gear-based progression. A combat-oriented approach doesn't mean that Victor Vran is lacking in the other departments either - there's plenty of loot to collect and increasingly awesome weapons to find (including what looks an awful lot like a lightsaber) as well as innovative character progression. All that's there, however, is enhanced by an unprecedented movement system that will have you (and up to 4 of your co-op buddies) leaping, dodging and wallrunning. It's a game where survival is based on so much more than how hard you can hit.

Well it seems the devs might have just given you guys what you really wanted, so maybe now we can just enjoy the game:

The DLCs will be available on GoG as a separate download. They shouldn’t require online activation.

Also I have a bit of good news we will change how the GIFT-OF-GEAR is obtained with the next big update. It will drop when you enter the Hub without any need to connect to our online servers.

And the multiplayer is going to be splitscreen. Not exactly intended but perhabs also fun: Can live with that without being in anger. So there has to be only one version on the PC and I could grab two gamepads with my dad gaming on the same computer. Hmm, should reconsider the position. For now it seems nice plans. So waiting for the Linux-version and then perhaps have another look. Did I missed something?

They seem to be more than willing to listen to the GOG community and make changes for the benefit of people here... we should at-least commend them for that. Not to many developers would have cared about this whole DRM discussion, especially on GOG... not with there game being on Steam. And no I don't think you missed anything. :)

throgh: So where is the QA starting? :-)

MaGo72: In my opinion GOG should give a Q&A. The Devs from Haemimont Games delivered a quite remarkable game. I am level 6 now and it is a lot of fun, playing in offline mode - got never asked for anything concerning online mode and the game seems also not to try to phone home(I did not claim the bonus). I got the feeling the game will shine in multiplayer co-op a lot.

GOG must have known that the community does not take such a dlc bonus behind an online account lightly. The Age of Wonders 3 release was already a little shitstorm.
You mean the forum community doesn't take it lightly. Not the GoG community as a whole. Because last I checked the game is doing pretty well on the popular list. People are still buying the game and at the end of the day, that's all the developer cares about.
They certainly have shown more sense and reason than their apologists here. I shall check it again once the Linux build is ready and DRM from gift is removed.

Yeah that's also my view. If the plans go up and out: I'll reconsider the purchase. A native Linux-version with splitscreen-option sounds really like fun on one computer (yes Gears of War I'm talking about you also on the X-Box 360 the past days). :D

I quite enjoy split-screen, wish more games did it, but sadly like LAN it's starting be done less and less. :(

Gears though, never could get into it, hated the over the shoulder view. :P

Too bad they didn't do their Q & A earlier! It is good news all around and I have a great deal of respect for the way they are handling the feedback. Assuming they follow through with this, they have a purchase from me.

True. There seems to be quite a few forum members who have a hard time with that realization that what happens here on the forum is not a reflective view of the GOG community as a whole, we are but just one small minority.

Oh the game is quite fun and immersive, talking about the first one. But we have also played the second part with splitscreen and that was really cool. Sometimes we missed the screen part but that was okay. It's a pity only the first part is for PC and then also only with "Games for Windows LIVE". But this is also an example what DRM could do with good games. :-( Nah, hope is holding up now. I am really sure now that the GOG-team had a chat with the developers about the future plans. But perhaps they could have given us some more hint about this. The whole discussion would have been quite smaller then.

Also true. Sometimes with companies it can take a while to work out the details and let the left hand catch up the right hand if you know what I mean. Hopefully though this community can at-least acknowledge they appear to be trying to accommodate us GOG users, assuming everything works out right in the next patch and they keep their word. :)

I've haven't played it a long time,it was fun, but it gave me motion sickness in that view on the tv (xbox version). They are suppose to be releasing like a collection of them for PC on Windows 10 I think.

Probably, but you know takes time to work this stuff out...

A release on Windows 10? Hmm, perhaps this will be DirectX 12 then. Also all parts? By the way: Some older Microsoft-Games would be really cool here on GOG. Age of Empires? Dungeon Siege? And yes: Also a DRM-free version of "Gears of War". But that would be only a dream. ;-)

Yea it will use DirectX 12 so that why it's for Windows 10, I think they plan to bring more Xbox exclusives to Windows 10 as well. And yea MS on GOG would be very nice, would love AOE 2 HD here. :D

Matruchus: So far the only annoying thing in this game is the save system. If you start a map there is no way to save and continue it later. Basically you have to start again in the castle with the map of the game. And since maps are quite huge you need at least an hour to finish it if not longer (though there are certainly arpg pros that will do them very fast). Every time you exit the map all the monsters respawn so you have to fight through them again which becomes quite tiresome. At this point I still don't know what the checkpoints are about. At this point im at level 23 - 12 hours in.
Ugh!

That's reason #3 for this to stay on my no-buy list.

1) DRM'd "Treasure Bonus"
2) Only one activation of the "Treasure Bonus"
3) Sucky save system

(Now, I understand that #'s 1 & 2 are reportedly going to change. WHEN they do, they'll come off the list. I'm a big fan of deliverables, not sayables. #3 seems like it will stay tho..)
