Another great graphic adventure from point-and-click masters at Sierra.

Pick up this game for adventure fans of all ages, here on GOG.com for $5.99!

Even though Torin’s Passage was created by a Al Lowe, famous for King’s Quest III (available on GOG.com), Police Quest (available on GOG.com), and Leisure Suit Larry (available on GOG.com--no, just kidding.), is not an adult-oriented adventure, but a game for kids and the young at heart. This adventure game features young Torin, the son of a farming family who embarks on a quest to save his parents and defeat the evil sorceress Lycentia. What he does not know is that in actuality SOMETHING SOMETHING SPOILER SPOILER. We’re not telling you anything else, because that would ruin the story. So buy Torin’s Passage, a classic point-and-click form the people who know a lot about pointing and clicking for fun, available now on GOG.com only for $5.99.

Crystals columns, princes and princesses, an evil sorceress and her intrigues, and a shape-shifting sidekick--it’s not a unique story, but still an intriguing one. Filled with fast-moving animated action full of comical twists and surprises, lovable and outrageous characters, five unique worlds within worlds, and a heart-warming ending, this game may have been made for young adults but just like some of your favorite books, it may have been made for younger audiences, but anyone will enjoy playing it. With great puzzles that (for example) utilize the shape-shifting Boogle (if he’s in the right mood), a Disney-like story, and simple but not simplistic gameplay, Torin’s Passage is yet another fantastic creation from Sierra, and you need to get it now on GOG.com for only $5.99!

gibbeynator: But do they actually own the Al Lowe-made original games, or just the garbage one they made? Either way, it's still probably a nightmare to license. Same logic applies to why we'll probably never see Sam & Max: Hit the Road again.

SLP2000: I wasn't sure about other Al Lowe games, but since they released Torrin's Pasage, I hope we'll get Freddy Pharkas too.

Anyway, it looks like it's only Larry series, that are out of reach atm. Not sure why, though, because Codemasters are here.

Sam & Max is a different story, because it's LucasArts. And when GOG sign them, I'm sure it will be available here.
LucasArts doesn't actually own Sam & Max anymore, Steve Purcell does.

If they can get Freddy Pharkas, they should add the disk-version as a bonus. While recording the voices, Al was bored by so many work and dropped many lines. Josh Mandel, who wrote the texts, worked at this time on the next Space Quest game and heard too late about the removed texts. As result some jokes and hints are missing.

That's new to me. I never thought LucasArts could lose rights to their game.

Something is not right. Wiki says that "In 2005, LucasArt's license with Purcell that gave them the right to produce games based on the Sam & Max franchise expired; this allowed Purcell to take the franchise to Telltale Games"

But I have dvd with Sam&Max on my shelf which was released in 2007 (I think) and under the licence from LucasArts.

Telltale owns Sam & Max :)
Hah! My very first adventure game I played when I was 8 or 9! Absolutely unbelievable GoG didn't forget this Gem! A very very good game, I spent like 3 days figuring out where to click on the grassy slopes, lol. It's a awesome game.

Actually that is not entirely the case with Sam & Max: hit the road since Lucas Arts owns the the content/the code to the game but Sam & Max themselves are owned by their creator Steve Purcell who had currently licensed the IP to Telltale games but that is just for new games. So if the orginal Sam & Max is to be released LucasArts needs to make a deal with Purcell.

Now for Larry, I have a feeling that it's the same type of mess where two parties own the rights Codemasters probably owns the Larry name and IP, while Activision, through their parent company Vivendi who bought out Sierra a few years back, owns the engine and code to the originals so Codemasters and Activision have to play nice to get the games here. And since someone brought it up Al Lowe and Replay only has the rights to make a remake of the orginal/VGA-SCI engined version game only.

Steve Purcell licensed Sam & Max to Telltale.
wishlist +1
I've completed it few years ago. Definitely worth buying, although it's a game which you'll complete only once.
"Leisure Suit Larry (available on GOG.com--no, just kidding.)"

I bet it'll be released next week.

gibbeynator: This. I'm hopeful we'll see it, but it sounds like another one of those licensing nightmares.
Dang, I hate this licensing shit. It's always about some incompetent monkeys acquiring the rights and keeping the good guys from doing great stuff with them (everytime I think about System Shock I wanna punch someone in the face).

Ugh. Don't. Just thinking about it gets my hopes way, way up.
Can someone say a little more about this title?
I'm pretty curious about it!

Thanks

Point 'n' click adventure. Main attraction is your sidekick that can learn and turn into various shapes serving as a puzzle-solving gadget (like the caterpillar in the Whispered World but better).
