A smashing new part of the cult fighting games series has just jumped into the ring. THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV GALAXY EDITION is now available DRM-free on GOG.COM with a 50% discount until 8th April, 1 PM UTC. Created by a veteran creator of FATAL FURY series, Yasuyuki Oda, the game gives you an adrenaline-rushing gameplay, neat 3D visuals, and over 50 fighters that are ready to rumble.
Can't download the soundtrack, nor the artbook. Gives a 404 error.

Same.

It's been a few hours. What's going on?
It's nice having some more fighting games on GOG. However, I am worried if a significant portion of the game requires the online component. I stayed away from Galaxy ever since it caused problems with some games and even made my PC run slower overall.

The game has 6 modes:

-Story
-Versus
-Training
-Mission
-Tutorial
-Online

The first Five can be accessed without Galaxy enabled, plus Mission has 3 sub modes: Trial, Time Attack, and Survival. Versus is offline multiplayer on the same computer.

Been able to access all 5 modes and all features without Galaxy. Online is the only mode that doesn't run as it will say it is disconnected.

Awesome! Really stoked to see this gem is finally available on GOG along with it's DLC! Definitely picking these up as soon as I can!
...what?......how?

I.. I wasn't prepared for this.. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks SNK! Thanks GOG! What an amazing job bringing this game here! :]]]]
Even with the 50% discount, it still seems quite steep for a 3 year old game. It is still cheaper to buy a new physical console copy of the game right now.

tfishell: when Galaxy was first announced Crossplay was highly advertised as a part of Galaxy. What is your information that the problem is with the Galaxy API? Have devs talked about how to make it easier for GOG to allow crossplay?
If this was really the case, why is there almost no Galaxy + Steam multiplayer games on either platforms? There would be obvious profitability in releasing some successful modern multiplayer games on GOG and it would also strengthen both the game's and GOG's community.
I knew this was gonna come here! hell yeah! now I'm crossing fingers for HEROINES Tag Team Frenzy

Love SNK fighters right next to my metal slug games.

Both Platforms?
Theres only for Gog tied to steam as far as i know
There arent a shitloads of MP games that have crossplay tied to Steam that is true and its even truer for more recent games.
It migth be because the demograpics/userbase is diffrent on gog than on steam.
Perhaps theres not many enough that are interested in multiplayer games on gog to warrant a more recent Game with mulitiplayer crossplay.
Whithouth some data/statestics its not really easy to know.

Thank you so much for confirming this!! This information is not clear on the gamepage but vital to purchasing for quite a few of us GOGers.

I do wish developers would include DRM-free online multiplayer options, like direct connect (and save it, apologists who will ask "iSnT a MoDeM dRm ToO?"). But it's great to see the local option!

Also, wow, by my standards this is definitely a blockbuster release! Thanks to all for bringing it here.

The_Gypsy: Does the online mode have an adjustable delay setting like the UMs or is it like XIII?
It doesn't use rollback netcode like the Code Mystics ports of Samurai Shodown V, Garou, etc.

Modern developers don't like it when online MP isn't reliant on them. More like liars; only a disingenuous person would call additional online MP options, which are user controlled and will work indefinitely, a form of DRM.

Thanks. There goes what little interest I had left after seeing the price.

In my opinion that is very subjective
sure , it will be drm free for anyone Hosting the Multiplayer game but for anyone that joins a multiplayer game hosted by others theres always the risk that it can be taken down.
If you have spent hundreds of hours on a character or even on a car racing game that progress is gone.

Allthough i have heard that private servers with the abilty to export the progression does solve this issue.
