A smashing new part of the cult fighting games series has just jumped into the ring. THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV GALAXY EDITION is now available DRM-free on GOG.COM with a 50% discount until 8th April, 1 PM UTC. Created by a veteran creator of FATAL FURY series, Yasuyuki Oda, the game gives you an adrenaline-rushing gameplay, neat 3D visuals, and over 50 fighters that are ready to rumble.

Anime-BlackWolf: I have abandoned hope for the newer MKs, they would already be here IF Warner would be interrested in selling them DRM free (and that is the only problem here. DRM free is nothing Warner is interrested in). Since the last one is full of garbage microtransactions I count it as completely lost and a "game as a service".

The only MK game we MAYBE can still expect to come here is "Mortal Kombat Trilogy" as an arcade port like MK4.

IF Warner can be bothered with allowing such a release. I strongly doubt that.

RawSteelUT: Well, no one expected to see MK4, so Trilogy is entirely possible.

Though, "arcade port..." Was Trilogy ever in arcades?
Trilogy was console only. Unless they are thinking of Ultimate MK3.
Uh, my bad. That makes the situation worse.

Warner has never brought the official PC ports of part 1 to 4 here, they are all arcade ports, even if the PC ports of those games were not bad at all (not even as a bonus).

So the only option for Warner to bring "Trilogy" here would be a console emulation (I doubt Warner would invest the costs for a proper PS1 or SEGA emulation licence) OR the old PC port of the game.

And they do not like the old PC ports as it seems... Very bad signs for the game. :(

And PC.

Though we'd all like to forget that it ever existed on that one crappy Tiger portable system, no doubt.

Thanks for the correction, wow I am really surprised I never knew that version got a PC release.

Though honestly in retrospect considering MK 1-4 got PC conversions that is kinda silly to think Trilogy didn't.
Midway even brought "Wargods" and "BIOfreaks" to the PC. Or at least GTE (Good Times Entertainment) as their distributor did. After GTE kicked the bucket, Midway / Warner went almost console only.

What are you talking about?
The versions available on GOG are original PC ports. Which is not necessarily a good thing because, while generally close to arcade originals for the most part (except MK2 - I still don't know how they could mess it up so badly) they are generally worse.
The only "arcade port" that PC got was Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection. Available for some time on Steam, then taken down because WB couldn't be bothered to patch it (that port has its own problems - on every platform).
If MAME versions could be sold here (not going to happen for legal reasons) - that would be great.

Edit:
By the way - I fully expect Injustice 1 to show up here eventually. Newer games may be problematic and I covered the case of MK9 earlier. The multiplayer may be cut out, but there is enough single player content.

I didn't really look at it as a correction, more just a "hey, you forgot something" reminder.
It's a shame there's no LAN support. I think that should be pushed a lot more.

I think you'll find better help in the game's own forum than in a 7 month old General forum thread. ,)
