I don't even want Skyrim and I'm still disappointed.
Since we got deus ex hr and md I'm sure skyrim, doom 2016 and even fallout 4 will be here on gog soon.
I will not buy them on steam anyway... I don't want to buy things multiple times... already done it for hitman absolution and deus ex hr and that's it.

Anothername: *checks the clock* Ok Gog, you had your fun. Open the gates and: Release the Skyrim!

Its overdue.
Yes, please take our monies so that we can have only half the modding capabilities whilst the other half is hidden behind creation club and workshop, we love inferior products here, that’s why we pay more!

(not a fan of bumping this but so be it :P) I'll lean more towards fortune_p_dawg's view - imo, release DRM-free Skyrim if Creation Club content can be made DRM-free after purchase - but ultimately it depends on GOG of course

Creation Club/DRM-free discussion btw

Yes, I'm not a particular fan of vanilla Skyrim, but if it releases here without modding capability -- or limited modding capability -- I will be sorely disappointed. Like M&B, IMO the point of Skyrim is the modding.

It will be moddable, what you will however lose is the vast amount of mods which are now locked behind creation club (and workshop) and not available anywhere else. Moddb, nexus no longer are the source of all mods for skyrim. That is a big issue, no other way to get those, nor any likely now either. If you go through one of the big modlist install items, you will find a lot of the mods mentioned are no longer found on nexus, some removed as people were copying them to workshop/creation to monetise them, others were removed just to avoid others nicking them to sell on. That is the legacy that workshop and creation club have, they have drm'd, made available only to a select group, content which before was provided by fans for fans, and got their insiduous greed claws into it. I expect the next elder scrolls game will not even be available outside beths own store, modders will likely have to signup to CC in blood.
So no, I would not support them any further.

Isn't there more than enough content on the Nexus to make Creation Club superfluous?

A lot less than there used to be. And big modlists are missing content as well now. Its a downward slope from here on in.

Fair enough. I haven't checked for Skyrim mods at the Nexus for quite some time, but I've got to think there still must be tons to choose from.

Either way, just because modders are flocking to lock their content behind a paywall, is that really a good reason for GOG to not get the game here if it comes with all officially released content? I don't think so.

Elder scrolls IS modding, in and of itself, the games are bland short, terribly balanced. It is only with mods that they become anything more.
high rated
I guess I should post this in the "unpopular opinion" thread, but I really don't give a crap about mods, barely ever bother with them, and I like the Elder Scrolls games just fine without them. If it's a choice between Skyrim DRM-free with fewer mods available and all the mods in the world + Steam, I'll happily take the DRM-free option any day.
