An action-adventure of great depth.

The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human, the side-scrolling acount of humanity's downfall, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux, with a 15% launch discount.

It was always going to end in tears. A vast, unending ocean of tears. As you return from your desperate space mission that was humanity's last hope for survival, you find our world in submerged ruins. Terrible creatures have reclaimed the oceans, our species' last retreat, and are now the unwitting curators of this eerie underwater "museum", which chronicles man's inescapable journey to destruction.

Acting as a brave historian you must try to figure out what brought about the apocalypse, while navigating the nasty surprises lurking among the ruins. Information is scarce, but the beautiful pixel-art environments are rife with clues on humanity's brief passing from the surface (and subsurface) of the planet. Be observant and thorough in your exploration, but never let your guard down for here there be sea monsters.

Dive into humanity's past and breathe in The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 15% discount will last until January 26, 08:59 AM GMT.
Looks interesting. Does it have any replay value?

I remember a while back when "glowing vectors" were the hot new-old thing. Everything has its season.

Looks like every indie developer choosed the same software . I wonder who is responsible for these releases from the Gog staff .

I was going to get this just for its name alone but after watching the trailer it seems so immersive and hopefully the sound track is as good as the trailer. seems like an interesting game

Some of us got into gaming when every game was pixel art. It's not a phase, it's just what we like.

Since I go back to mainframe gaming, I remember games when they were just text, and pixel art was a new thing. :)

But here I'm referring to self-conscious style choices. Those go in and out of fashion in a cycle. I wouldn't be surprised if the next new-old look is the return of wireframe 3D.

Personally, I like pixel art, in part because it harkens back to when I was writing games myself on the TI-99/4A and the C64. They have a kind of ageless purity to them, with a simplicity that relies as much or more on imagination as on the graphics themselves.
I can`t stand any more new games with retro pixel art ... -.- it just feels cheap and simple.

But I love and still play old games that use that style, because it was the best there was when they were released. Maybe that`s why I have enough of it?!

Anyway - if this game had a modern look I would be more than interested, but not this way.

Thought the same thing. Really impressive trailer and, by judging from what I heard, it's a "one-man-only" dev so hooray to that!

Nice points. I think I'm just glad we're getting one more round of pixel art games -- there's a lot of stuff that seems like more homage than content, but there are also a good handful that seem to be really well designed and take their classic aesthetic seriously rather than using it as a veneer, like Wizorb and Shovel Knight and Serpent in the Staglands.

Text games are the ones who leave the most to the imagination. And I have played some good ones.

The art direction should complement the game, and we see many reviews on GOG that show that many times it did not take proper consideration. They went 3D because it was the fashion of the time, bringing nothing to the table and looking ugly.

I'd say there is room for text games (e.g. Adventure), text-mode games (e.g. Rogue), 2-D vector games, voxel games, sprites games, polygon games... (what am I missing?) as long as it is done right and it fits the game.
(And I guess no one will disagree with that!)
I like underwater themes. Looks good so far.

Remember that short time when Voxels were the hot item?
First thing that came to mind after reading the game title.

Second one: Gorgeous pixel art.

Third: Now that we' ve gone underwater, it's a good time we see Bioshock. :)
