Classic RPG hack'n'slashin'.

Revenant, an astonishing and supremely fun classic aRPG, is available now on Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Revenant is here today to serve as a fun-filled throwback to how things used to be done back in the day, and a chance to truly hack it like it's 1999. There's a lot to say about Revenant, but no matter what, the keyword is always "fun". In a game all about combat - smooth controls, responsiveness, and that feeling of weight behind your every attack are all-important, and even today Revenant hits the right spots. Despite its age, the colorful backdrops holds up amazingly well and the motion-captured combat continues to surprise with its variety, over-the-top violence, and plenty of dismemberment. There's a few inventive things to be found here as well, including a magic casting system based on combining runes and talismans to uncover stunning and powerful spells that will let you spectacularly clear out rooms with a single gesture. Beyond that, Revenant is a game of loot, loot, loot, plenty of weapons, great character design and most of all... fun.

Hack away at Revenant, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com!
I wonder if he saw and bought the Gog release .

Elmofongo: Cool.

Anyother Isometric RPGs we are missing?

Other than Torchlight 2, Fallout games, and Path of Exile and Diablo games?

gandalfnho: Titan Quest
Freedom Force series
Dungeon Siege series
Fate series
Already had Dungeon Siege in my list.

Ooh a Superhero RPG in the form of Freedom Force?

You think Superheroes and RPGs can go hand in hand?

Matewis: Late 90s definitely or perhaps very early 2000s (<2003) from what I remember. Like Revenant and Baldur's Gate it had highly detailed pre-rendered backgrounds. It was just one review though, and unfortunately I can't really remember any other details. The only reason I remember it at all is because I was very disappointing at the time when I read the review, since it was a game that had intrigued me for a long time. I've always been curious about Revenant, which is why I started to wonder whether or not it had been a review for Revenant. What little I do remember doesn't quite seem to fit with Revenant so I have no clue :-\
Hm, hard to say from such a vague description. If it's not one of the following games then I'm a bit at a loss as to what it could be:

http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/broken-land

(ruling out stuff you definitely didn't mean like Legacy of Kain Blood Omen, Nox, Lionheart, Heretic Kingdoms, Inquisitor etc - those you definitely know already)

vicklemos: I'm guessing four years (if that's the case), according to the awesome interview I saw the other day :P

Fever_Discordia: Revenant NOT the thing from the interview confirmed!!!

(and I mean that in a 'still more exciting things to look forward to' way rather than an 'in your face' kind of way, the fact that it IS in your face is merely incidental, I didn't want to make a big thing of it...)
Nah, no worries. Damn they know how to tease, huh?

LiquidOxygen80: bro. ;)

dtgreene: How is sapphic love dirty?

LiquidOxygen80: Re-read what he said. He didn't say sapphic love was dirty, he implied that the sexualization of it due to people having dirty minds was. Not everything needs to be a dumblr crusade, bro. ;)
Yup. And I surely didn't mean to offend, dtgreene :)
What interview?
Wheeee!

I played a demo of this back when my primary machine had a 550 MHz Athlon, a Voodoo 3 3500, 128 MB RAM, and a 13 GB HDD. Now I finally get to play the full game.
Ross of Freeman's Mind/Ross's Game Dungeon/Accursed Farms/Civil Protection should be delighted at this news.

Waaay ahead of you. I informed him in the comments of his video, but you might have more direct methods.
Such an awesome release, I hope SE keeps bringing more stuff like Dungeon Siege. :) I remembered the intriguing cover art from old magazines, I don't know why I skipped over this one back in the day though. I'll finally get a chance to try this out now, thanks GOG and SE!

awalterj: ...
Definitely not one of those unfortunately :-\ On the face of it, Blade Sword does look pretty cool though :)

Perhaps the review I'm vaguely remembering was about Revenant. Who knows. What adds to the confusing is that Revenant as well as this mystery game comes from a very poorly stored and cataloged inner library of my mind made up of all the hundreds upon hundreds of games I read about in gaming magazines when I was a kid but never got a chance to play(or I did but it was only the demo). Now and again I suddenly remember about one and then decide to look it up, and often I can't remember the name. The last one nearly drove me crazy because I couldn't remember its name, and I could remember that for a very long time I did remember the name. Luckily one person managed to guess it that time
Are you freaking serious !?

I remember playing this game demo like hell when I was a kid. Could never buy it... and now it is on gog.

Thanks guys.
Cool release!
