Brought to you by GOG.com

Pacific General and Fantasy General, the accessible, Panzer-like grand strategy classics, are available now DRM-free on GOG.com!

Pacific General, available for Windows, is a spiritual sequel from the studio behind the acclaimed Panzer General series - an improvement over the classic, but one that retains the same feel and concepts as its inspiration. Once more we return to the overhead battlefields of World War II in a series of quick-play scenarios and full-blown campaigns: everything from Pearl Harbor to hypothetical invasion scenarios is here, all packaged in a relatively newbie-friendly grand-strategy package. Fantasy General takes that same experience and sets it in a fantasy universe. This one's for you if you're a fan of large-scale hex-based battlefields and steampunk-infused fantasy. Fantasy General is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
Pacific General and Fantasy General are being published by GOG.com. We are happy to release these titles not on behalf of another party, but by acting as the sole publisher for the very first time!

Unleash your inner armchair general with Pacific General and Fantasy General, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com!
Congratulations on the publishing move
Judas,

I couldn't find the first Panzer General on GoG. Will it become available in near future ?
Nice. Wishlisted Fantasy General, considering my backlog.

Will games published by GOG be regionally priced?

I cannot reveal whether a given title is or isn't coming to our site, NDAs and all that.

Fever_Discordia: Wait, might we see games listed as Published by 'GOG' turn up on... other DD sites?
avatar
JudasIscariot: Speaking for myself and myself alone from a gamer's perspective, I kinda hope they remain exclusive :)

What we, as a company, decide, well, my crystal ball is in the shop on that one :)
My crystal ball says market advantage to keeping them GOG only so I think you will be proven right Judas. Hypothetical question if the GOG community ever made a game could it get distribution through GOG?

JudasIscariot: If you hear of any, drop us a line via Support in the feedback section :)
Can you look into getting the rights to the Dungeon Master series? I believe the rights currently belong to Wayne Holder, founder of the defunct FTL Games. The games have never been released digitally, and nothing has been done with the IP for a long time.

Vote for the games on the wishlist:

Dungeon Master
Dungeon Master: Chaos Strikes Back
Dungeon Master II: The Legend Of Skullkeep

They did in the past. Alas, to no avail.

More seriously and I would understand why you wouldn't want to answer this (private business stuff):

Why didn't the guy from Strategic Simulations took the role of "publisher" themselves (in Belgium, you just have to take the appropriate VAT business reference and it's done) and do it the "usual way"? From GOG perspective, it helps from an exclusivity perspective and some rights management but do the devs get an higher share for dealing directly with you (less than the usual GOG 30% cut), more publicity in media, other perks?
Come on, let's get to the point : why should devs work with you? :o)
I asked myself about this the other day (like why can't gog publish), and the bang. Can't believe it, I'm slightly stunned ;P
Never heard of these games, though. But way to go: securing classics, drm-free, cross platform, nice price... what a deal!

Cadaver747: Oh no, every company I liked which went into publishing ended up pretty badly financially, they were bought out by big companies and then disappeared ;)
avatar
Fever_Discordia: Wasn't that back in the days when you actually had to produce CDs and boxes and get them shipped etc. though?
I'm sure if a one man band like Night Dive can slap their name on stuff and make a tidy return then GOG can too!
Besides IS it that new? The Witcher games are listed as published by 'CDProjekt' which is pretty much the same thing...
I'm now going to have a look into why these games' right were floating around, ready to be picked up anyway...
Yes, yes and yes. Anyway it doesn't change my statement, the only exception might be Monolith Productions but I really F.E.A.R. for their future. As for The Witcher franchise their publishers in NA are Atari & WB Games.
I just wanted to express my gratitude and concern at the same time. Since my English skills were obtained solely from video games I can't use proper words where needed, all I know is "open chest, get the fireball scroll and kill the troll" kind of thing.
GOG in publishing sounds like a good start in battle for games liberation out of rights limbo.

Dude, that last question is a rather broad question and goes WAY over my head :) I am just a simple Product guy, not a decision maker or someone who speaks with devs about "why they should work with us" :) Sorry for the seeming evasiveness but I prefer giving answers to questions that I a) know what I am talking about and b) I have permission to share a given answer :)
Oh I finally checked - these were SSI games, that's why everyone's on about Gold Box!

So WERE the rights with UbiSoft but they couldn't be arsed to do anything with them, other than license them out for cheap?

Also guys, remember that Hasbro / WotC is going to have a say in anything D&D related
Although, on the bright side, remember that CDProjeck has a long history of publishing D&D games - it goes back to their roots, in fact!

Do you know if you have any plans for allowing third parties to kickstart new entries in those series ? Or if it would just be possible ?

The guys of seven dragon saga, TSI I think, would probably love this idea !
